Contractor just called. Apparently there was a leak last night in house. It came from under the foundation and soaked two rooms. Fuck me.

They're also coming out with a Ranger, smaller than the standard. 10% discount if you send them a picture of your jeans cuffs up.

Wife said the solo stove is ugly.

So I located some slightly wet wood and fired up the chiminea and after realizing how smoky her clothes were, “maybe we should get the solo stove”

Breaker looks brand new. A/C is a pretty old unit, but I had a friend who owns an A/C company come by and he said that i don't need to replace it for another few years. So it can't be that bad.

Looks like we’re moving forward with building the house as of this moment. One thing I don’t like about the plan is the small lanai. I’m having the builder do a 10x30 slab of concrete during the build process so I can have a nice area to work with. They quoted me $2,800 which I know is higher from the builder but here’s my thought process. I don’t want to have some tear the yard up to get back there to build it afterwards and also deal with hoa approval to get it done. Thoughts?

If there is any site work to speak of (grading) that's a pretty good price. Probably close to 1k in material. Rest would be labor for excavation, forming, aggregate, reinforcement, pouring, placing, and finishing. Your thoughts on timing are spot on too.

It’s a fairly level lot. I thought the price was fair considering what I would have to deal with doing afterwards.

We’re not really blown away with the granite choices from the builder. We’re thinking of doing a base level granite then finding what we like from a granite yard. How hard would it be for someone to install the new granite without damaging our new cabinetry? That worries me.

And the sink if it's under-mounted. Ripping out the granite will warp the sink and you'll need to put a new one in.

That’s what I was thinking. I’ll talk with the design team tomorrow and see if we can go to the granite supplier and see some other options. Don’t want the damage possibilities.

So I have no experience with Bahia grass, what I do know is that it is pretty sensitive and using regular weed and feed / Scott's etc is a bad idea. Upon further research of the proper chemicals I found it would be cheaper to use TruGreen so they could do fertilizer/pest control/weed control all at once. I've used them in the past before I started getting into the joy of doing it myself so I figured why not. Talked them down in cost and had my first treatment on 11/8.

Well, let's just say... Fuck TruGreen.

I’m sure I shouldn’t do this but what are the boards thoughts. Just started the building process and house won’t be finished until July. Should I buy appliances now with the deals and store them in our storage unit or wait until July 4th sales? I really don’t want to waste a years warranty but have found some really good deals.

TruGreen came by, admitted they probably killed it off.

Said they at least have to try to fix it before replacing it so they will do fertilizer tomorrow. If that doesn't work (which he doesn't think it will), they will offer to either replace the bahaia grass free of charge, OR if I pay the difference between bahaia and St Augustine they will do that. Seems like it might have been a blessing in disguise if I can do that deal.

    1. Sand and stain the island back as well as the top of cabinets on either side of fireplace (I used the same red oak for both).
    2. Finish tile above range when correct vent hood arrives.
    3. Install toe-kick under cabinets.
    4. Install filler panel left of upper cabinet at bev station.
    5. Small trim piece where tile meets cabinet uppers.
    6. Find things to hang on bare den walls.

Really glad you are going to address number one and two. The island back personally wouldn’t be my choice but I hate it with the color it is now. It should work well once drained. I can live with that. On the other hand the tile not coming all the way to the vent hood triggered me. I was going to offer to come to Texas and finish it for you.

Not sure yet, am putting my head together with my 2 brothers today to try to determine that. My initial though is somewhat of a tan/gray color but want to bounce it off some peeps that can see it in the lighting. Similar to this maybe.
