The line from the judge about how much time he will have left to enjoy freedom after his sentence for sexually assaulting a 6 year old was so disgusting. That judge should do time for that.
If you told me they just took the guy out back and shot him I wouldn't be able to conjure up an ounce of sympathy
The lengths cartels will go to kill someone are crazy....great read.... https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/the-cartel-next-door/
Just reading through old stuff there. This one is super sad. https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/the-day-treva-throneberry-disappeared/
From Wikipedia: In 2016, Throneberry resurfaced under the alias "Brianna Kenzie", accusing a local man of sexually assaulting her while she worked as a hotel employee. She was later fired after hotel employees learned of her prior record.
This article is terrifying. https://www.propublica.org/article/dr-death-christopher-duntsch-a-surgeon-so-bad-it-was-criminal
It made me nauseous just reading the article. Feel terrible for all those people. I can't imagine a much worse feeling than waking up from surgery and being completely fucked up for life.
god they do such great work https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/love-story-upended-texas-prison-system/
Send this to Meryl's people stat and get this movie made. What a badass everyone of those prisoners and lady were.
Well this is terrible. That charity needs to completely replace every single board member. https://features.propublica.org/lib...-me-katie-meyler-liberia-sexual-exploitation/
This Katie Meyler's a shitshow. Act like you're helping all these kids and really you're banging the guy you're supposed to be protecting them from while showering yourself in social media look at me
This will make you hope something absolutely terrible happens to Rae Carruth. Horrible that he was released today....and what an incredible person the woman raising that child is...
The person writing the letters doesn't seem overly intelligent, so it's surprising to me that they haven't figured it out.
Yeah it almost seems like they’re trying to appear intelligent but the grammatical errors prove otherwise. The ending was a little weird with the husband sending shit to people. Probably not the best idea but I get why he’d be pissed and frustrated obviously.
Definitely a terrible idea to do that. When you factor in the money lost on the rent vs. mortgage and property taxes...would seem if they have no intention on living there that he should just admit defeat to the loon and take his losses and sell.
Fantastic read, what in the fuck. Couple missing pieces for me. I don't think the whole move into a bigger house thing is a huge deal. I could sit here now and name a ton of my friends who started off with smaller homes, built equity and moved up. Especially with him working in Manhattan, that's not an insane leap, typical of the rat race culture and they moved into the epicenter of it. But a deeper dive into the Broaddus' background might be more telling. With that being said if they were financially bleeding, they spent a fuck-load of time and resources looking into the matter. Like you were saying buckwild, cut your losses and run. Classic case of them doubling down, much like we see in threads here often. For as much as they lost on just the house, 100k in on renovations, allegedly, plus the $1.3 cost of the home, if they were "in over their head", the PI, lawyer civil suit, lawyer handling the subdivision, etc... those costs alone had to breach well over 100K right there. That being said, I'd like to read more, much more. So fucking strange.
I remember that story from a few years ago. Def one of the few neighbors next door. That would be freaky and all but probably harmless.
Read that. Felt bad for the restaurant owner, but it seems like there might be more to the story as well with some internal family issues. That being said, I can see how being named to the top of some of those lists can be not want a restaurant is looking for.
Tampa Bay Times does some great work on occasion. This shit is heartbreaking and just so infuriating with how easily it could be prevented if healthcare wasn't about profit. http://www.tampabay.com/projects/2018/investigations/heartbroken/all-childrens-heart-institute/
Yeah that ended up being bs story. The guy had gotten in trouble for choking his wife, hadn't paid child support, etc. Seems crazy that they decided to leave that out of the original story
Real good one....reminds me of "Making A Murderer" a bit.... https://magazine.atavist.com/blood-cries-out-chillicothe-missouri-murder-mark-woodworth
This is terrifying...no thanks on living where fire tornadoes can happen... https://projects.sfchronicle.com/2018/carr-fire-tornado/
Read this one the other day. It got a little confusing in the middle trying to keep all the players straight but still a crazy story
Oh it turns out she cheated with her fraud boyfriend and his Hampton Creek company to win $1 mill so they can rape more girls. Wonderful people all around. https://www.propublica.org/article/...ternet-and-hollywood-to-win-a-million-dollars
Shades of Brendan Dassey in this one when the dad basically said "he's real dumb and you're taking advantage of him"
The theme in everyone of these wrongful convictions is police and prosecutors just wanting to close it out. This one is weird because Brandon is such a better and easier case to make. Honestly I'm sorry your wife got shot but you railroaded a guy because you got caught embezzling so fuck Lyndel. And Rochelle definitely at least knows Brandon did it, if not take some part in it.
