Watch Born Strong if you're into stuff like that, doc on the best powerlifters out there and really good
I'm pretty big into swimming and they're the same way when in peak training. Difference is they're actually burning 10-12k calories a day, swimmers are fucking insane.
Got some new Brooks Ghost 11's and got molded insoles cause I have freakishly high arches. Never used non-stock insoles before. It was an uncomfortable experience for my first three miles this morning but this should be better for me long term, I expect.
For any of you guys that like to run with something to keep sweat out of your eyes - either hiking or running - I just scooped one of these. Will use for hikes and trail runs. They have a bunch of college teams https://www.junkbrands.com/collections/college-headbands
Was not a good morning for me. Stomach was upset all race and then my right hip erupted right around 8 miles. Hope the marathon is going great for our guys Walt Disney and DollarBillHokie !!
3:33 for me Very Fun race PR by a minute, windy and not a flat course I don’t think I’ll ever be very fast at that distance, but still happy with the time
Did 10 miles this morning in about 1:20:00. Just a bit slower than my targeted race pace for ATL 1/2 on Thanksgiving. Hoping dropping down to sea level and the typical race day adrenaline boost gets me the time I want
That’s crazy you’ve had a 9 year old daughter the past three years. You gotta be running out of kids at this point.
Race fever has set in Sat 11/17 Turkey Trot 5K Sun 11/18 10K Thu 11/22 Turkey Trot 5K Wed 12/05 1 Mile race Sat 12/15 Jacksonville Marathon Sun 12/30 10K or 5K
That FL life. Pretty much any organized races are about done here in Colorado after thanksgiving until spring
Actually she came out of my wife’s vagina. I remember, because I helped deliver her. Cedars is east of the 405, so you got me there
Running the distance classic half marathon in Jacksonville. I do it every year, it's a mile from my MILs house so it's perfect. Plus living in atlanta it's the only flat race I see all year. Hoping for a big PR
Fuck, Kentucky is hilly. Ran the Honor Run Half Marathon this morning in 2:20. I had no clue going in that the course would have about a 740 ft. total elevation rise with constant rolling hills. Cold, too, around 30 degrees. Still, it was a beautiful course and a great cause (raising money for Honor Flight). Worth the frozen nostrils and burning calves and hammies.
Just signed up for my first race. Less than a month away, have to break in my new Brooks shoes by then. No matter what though, I'll be setting a PR!
Did my last 20 mile long run of this training plan this morning. Went better than expected considering it was humid as hell. Garmin says 75 F and 94% humidity. First 10 miles 8:53 avg pace, last 10 miles 8:11 avg pace. Happy with that, pretty much went as planned. Saturday Turkey Trot 5k! First race since February. Can't wait.
Did not feel strong today. The pace felt very unfamiliar due to only marathon training for endurance recently. And my legs were tired from a 20 mile long run two days ago! With all that said, I did PR the 5K at 6:15 pace, 19:25 time. Definitely feel like under 19min is possible.
As you should! It's all relative. The guy who won today's 5K finished almost 3 minutes ahead of me. "Victory is not the defeat of competitors, but the conquest of heights, the transport of discovery, the affirmation of love and technique." - Andrea Mead Lawrence
I mean I get it but it’s still humbling. That’s why I love this thread. It’s a constant reminder to keep working. FWIW my post was mostly meant as a kudos hats off to you. Like a damn if that makes sense
11 days from my race. Just finished raising $3k for St. Jude as well. Feeling pretty good. Damn near everything right now is mental prep for going 26.2.
Not sure if anyone runs in ASICS but if you do they are having a 30% off Black Friday sale. Just use code “blackfriday” free 2 day shipping with order over $50. Just picked up two pairs of Dyna flytes for 80. I think they are $130 regularly.
Was mostly lifting today but some guy who was 60+ and possibly 70 was running really fast on the treadmill so went to inspect what he was doing and he was running at 8.8 and at like 6.5 miles at 44 minutes. I then realized that I can barely run 1 mile under that pace and felt really bad.
I was on pace to crush my half marathon PR by over 10 minutes. Pulled muscle and I had to walk the last 4
