I'm not a huge Julia Roberts fan but I really like Esmail and this has great reviews (99% RT). Will be checking it out at some point.
Almost through the season so won't post anything plot related but this is definitely worth the watch.
I stumbled upon this series because of an NPR interview. Binged watched the entire series in one night (BTW it's refreshing to see a 30 min drama series). Now I'm pissed that I finished it so quickly.
Just learned that this was a podcast in its previous life... In a related story I saw that Dirty John is now a show and was formally a podcast as well
First season of podcast was really good. Second season I didn’t like as much. I’ll have to check this out.
The podcast was really good but after S1 I didn’t keep up with it. Really awesome voice cast too (Oscar Isaac, Katherine Keener, David Schwimmer, etc)
Gimlet Media has been making some moves over the last few years. Highly rec checking out some of their other podcast.
I thought it was mostly pretty fucking stupid but the way it ended was dark enough to give me a modest amount of pleasure Spoiler lol @ watching two people quite in love with one another and outrageously dismissive of the harm their choices are causing others have their lives more or less completely destroyed in 10 minutes of story (Temple figuring out that Alex has no idea who she is before watching Temple follow her fate)
Finished it last night. non-spoiler version: no where near as good as the first season. This season is a standard "memory loss drama" with little nuance. although I really like the cast. Chris Cooper I thought was awesome. Cusack was pretty good. The guy who plays Walter is also very good again. But the plot is...fine but cannot be held up against the first season and not just because of Julia Roberts. Spoiler ending was dumb. All of those people sell soap and fragrances and shit. what the hell was the point of that? also Alex injected the stuff and woke up in 5 seconds. All of Geist passes out for hours for drinking a little? I actually liked that they followed up that Audrey was a fraud from the first season. That was actually a fun twist. But that was it. Everything else was entirely told basically at the beginning. Nothing else from Colin and Ron? Don't make a third season please. Should not have been a second one either
