Yes, this is the thread I've been waiting for. Was 340 at the end of may then started keto. Today I weighed 251. I feel incredible, my body simply runs better on fat than glucose. I have no more digestive issues whatsoever. I have no plans to ever stop for good, but i have knocked myself out of ketosis probably 3 times in that span. I feel like complete shit anytime i eat actual carbs. Ive always heard 20-50 grams of carbs but i stay as low as i can, usually under 20 but that can be tough when eating a lot of vegetables. Keto was the best decision ive ever made and absolutely the easiest "diet" ever. I do however miss fruit a lot.
As someone with a non traditional work schedule, using keto as a focus of food intake has been helpful, especially when it comes to snacking
Its mostly my fault because i prefer kale over other leafy greens and eat too many nuts. But it doesnt seem to have any negative impact on my ketosis.
Im really looking forward to eating for maintenance rather than weight loss. Soooo much delicious fat. Fat bombs with thc oil in them? Yes please
You probably know this already, but that 20-50 is net carbs, meaning that carbs derived from fiber and sugar alcohols don’t count. Kale is “high” in total carbs, but it’s low in net carbs.
Once I get closer to my goal weight, I’ll raise it up. But honestly, where I eat once a day, I’m pretty full on just those calories.
You do you, and that's great that it's working, but you're on a calorie restriction diet. You'd be losing weight if you ate 1100 calories worth of doughnuts.
calorie amount vs quality of food is always a discussion. Interesting read: http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/index.html
I have found a very low calorie + fasting diet is the only thing I can pull off for weight loss discipline wise. Healthy choices and exercise only allows me to drop maybe 10 (due to mistakes), so to truly get down I need a nazi like approach or else I give in to more food and break even on the week. And no, it is not sustainable.
Been lazy ketoing and cheating on weekends every once and a while. Down almost 40lbs since May. Started 218 sitting at 180.
For anyone who has excessive man boobs like myself: Do your best to incorporate intermittent fasting. Man boobs are caused by a liver that doesnt process estrogen correctly. Keto + IF will fix that with time.
it’s arby’s i know but there’s one right by the clinic and this is pretty awesome https://arbys.com/build-a-meal you can remove the bun/wrap from each meal for the calculations
Gave it a go I in the spring before my garden was popping and I started working 60-70 hrs of physical labor/week. Couldn't figure out enough vegetarian meals for the week that would keep. Tbh I notice a bigger difference eating one big meal or eating in a 4-6 hr window, but I wasn't eating much refined stuff before or going for weight loss
man i was so constipated the first 3 days but the logs i am generating today would make Weyerhaeuser blush
So do you guys keep a calorie track or just shoot for eating things that you know will keep your carb level low enough to stay in ketosis?
I track calories and macros way more than i should. My ideal day at maintenance looks roughly like: 2400 calories 195g fat 150g protein 20g carbs 7000mg sodium As long as i dont go over those numbers its a sucessful day. The less fat i eat the more fat I burn. Sometimes i eat more carbs than that but it has to be a very special occasion to go higher than 75. I never go over that protein count to avoid gluconeogenisis, which spikes insulin production, which causes fat storage. If im working out, and i very rarely do that, I dont mind going over on fat and or protein a bit.
which app do you use? i used mfp a while back when i lost a bunch of weight. i haven’t been tracking anything yet but feel like i should
Fatsecret. It has a nice android widget that just stares at me on my home screen so i literally cant forget. Which is very useful considering how much weed i smoke.
no. got to avoid anything that mimicks sugar it works for some, but for me it triggers too many cravings. plus the artificial sweeteners are bad
Aspartame is def a poison but doesnt really have an impact on blood glucose level so yes. If i wasnt poor i'd just drink Zevia but i am and im not willing to give up a few sodas per week.
