The team is garbage AND we constantly get fucked by the refs. It's amazing. Just keep Mariota, Davis, Lewan, the front 7 and start from scratch everywhere else. Can't wait to win two more games and pick in the middle of the draft.
Handing off to Stocker on 4th and short with an opportunity to score points at risk? The level of stupidity we've seen at times this season is just staggering 10-0 lead seems to have disappeared immediately after that call
Good news is we have an easy schedule for the next three weeks. The bad news is that we’ll still probably lose two of them.
Mariota was accurate last night, but 6 sacks is bad. We’ve gotta get him, or whoever, better protection.
No rhythm whatsoever from LaFluer. The fact that he had never called plays before is obvious every week.
this past Sunday, John Glennon at The Athletic had a piece on this. I pasted some pertinent info from it: Spoiler LaFleur, who is in his first year as an NFL play-caller, believes he can do a better job helping Mariota avoid big sack numbers in the future. Mariota was sacked 11 times against Baltimore earlier this year and four times against the Colts. “I think certainly there are things I can do and control as a play-caller to help those situations,” LaFleur said. “Whether it’s screen or quick-game (passes), something to get the ball out of his hands quickly, if we’re getting into those games where we’re seeing sacks piling up.” Can Mariota help himself as well when it comes to sacks? A few PFF numbers would suggest so: Mariota has thrown the ball away just eight times this season, which is fewer than 25 other quarterbacks. Mariota has been sacked on 30.2 percent of the snaps he’s been pressured, the highest figure in the league among current starters. PFF attributes fault on four Titans sacks to Mariota this season, the highest such figure on the team. Some of the NFL’s more traditional pocket passers — like New England’s Tom Brady, New Orleans’ Drew Brees, Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger and Indy’s Andrew Luck — have fewer sacks attributed to them, as they tend to throw the ball away quicker. But it’s worth pointing out again that those traditional pocket passers are also far less likely to step outside the rush, sprint past defenders and pick up a critical first down. Mariota has run for 19 first downs this season, trailing only four quarterbacks in that regard. “Those (pocket passers), they’ve relied their whole career in terms of, `OK, the rush is around me, so how can I get rid of the football quickly?’” LaFleur said. “Whereas some of these (more mobile) guys who use their legs a little bit more have relied their whole career on, `Oh, I can escape this and there’s nothing in front of me.’” Minimizing the sacks and maximizing production can be tricky when it comes to mobile quarterbacks like Mariota. “It’s a fine line,” LaFleur said. “Because you want them to be the player they are. But at the same time, you never want to hurt the team and move us back. So certainly that’s one of the areas that falls in the gray area in terms of coaching.” https://theathletic.com/674214/2018...success-but-that-hasnt-been-easy-this-season/
Some folks on Twitter suggesting we intentionally had 12 men on the field. Why on earth?? Conklin getting called out by the broadcast crew for being awful We haven't converted a 3rd down all day
I actually think it was a good thing. 2 and 2 and they are likely to get the first down and gives them one more play to drain the clock. First down gives them a harder time getting a first and us more likely to get a stop. Whatever though. What a game. Mariota, Davis, Taylor and the defense balled out in the second half. Conklin can get fucked though.
Some interesting tidbits from Barnwell's piece on ESPN.com this morning: - There have been only 11 incompletions of 40 yards or more all season in which the NFL's Next Gen Stats predicted a completion probability of 60 percent or more. Mariota is responsible for two of those 11 throws, and they've both been on the same route concept and throw to Taylor. - By Next Gen Stats, Mariota has the second-highest percentage of open receivers (51.1 percent) and the fifth-highest percentage of wide-open receivers (24.8 percent) in football among quarterbacks with 200 throws or more. Lesson for 2019: Understand what they have with Mariota. As tempting as it is to look at a good start or two and hope that Mariota is finally realizing his considerable talent, the reality for the Titans is that we've now seen nearly four years and 1,548 pass attempts of Mariota under center, and it would be foolish to ignore what we've seen. At this point, the mercurial, injury-prone Mariota the Titans know is the one they have to expect they'll get going forward. He might improve, of course, and Mariota could piece together a Joe Flacco-esque postseason and win a Super Bowl if he gets hot, but the Titans can't pay Mariota for the player they want him to be. As they enter the fifth-year option of Mariota's rookie deal, the Titans will need to keep reality in mind as they enter long-term negotiations. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/pag...-2018-playoff-stretch-gone-wrong-lessons-2019
The one on Sunday was an abomination, but the one earlier in the season was incomplete because the ref got in the way of Taylor.
I hate the fucking Jaguars man being responsible for all of their losses in 1999 is one of the best things a Nashville sports team has ever accomplished
MM8 is throwing wobblers. And that one sailed and was picked. But even the pass to Taylor over the middle on 3rd and 2 or the pass to Davis to open the drive was bad. Wonder wtf is going on.
reminds me of when Darius Reynaud had that brutal mistake to start a season. Not really similar but total incompetence on display http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...8/Reynaud-steps-back-into-end-zone-for-safety
Rashaan Evans putting in work https://www.profootballfocus.com/ne...campaign-around-after-dismal-start-in-the-nfl
this defense had allowed 30+ points in three straight games the Jets and Jaguars will always be just what the doctor ordered
I love these uniforms. The numerals aren't great as we discussed in here a while back but the colors look really sharp
That run was fucking amazing. Dude keeps running like this and we got a stew cooking. He legit does seem to be running "tougher" after the bye.
