Actually this article isn't bad but generally he's not much more than a provocateur so it wouldn't surprise me
The P12 is royally fucked rn. The interesting thing about the article is it only compares numbers to the SEC and B1G but the Big 12 is significantly ahead as well, sending out $36.5 million each, which does not include third tier rights such as the longhorn network, etc. So you’ve got TX topping $50 million a year and even schools like KSU and ISU hitting $40 million. The P12 and ACC are both waaaaaay behind financially Scott looked like a genius during the first big round of realignment but the more I learn about him the more he seems like a massive piece of shit
was there a reason he didnt compare the spending to what the acc and big 12 do? seemed weird to just ignore 40% of the power 5
Big 12 offices are in Dallas and bowlsby makes $2 million base, so likely similar to or less than the sec numbers
If it were someone worth giving the benefit of the doubt, I'd say he did it to keep the article from being cluttered with a bunch of numbers But Canzano is a hack troll so who knows
even before i knew he was a troll, i was assuming it had something to do with those numbers not helping his argument too much
It is crazy that Scott makes more per year than any Pac-12 head coach. Step up your game pac holy shit
I almost respect the Clay Travises more, because they at least have an identifiable shtick. Canzano ping pongs back and forth between troll and provocateur, but he (and the Oregonian, I guess) sees himself as some serious highbrow journalist
He is a White House Press Secretary-level spinmaster too. Whenever he's asked about the Pac-12 network, he just filibusters or starts talking about how the conference dominates in cross country or whatever, and no one can get a word in until he's basically ended the conversation. Just a vile individual all around.
I didn't know this about him until today. His obsession with sports that aren't football and basketball makes a lot more sense now I mean, it's great that Oregon State has a good women's rowing team or whatever, but like 1/3 or more of the people who live in the conference's broadcast zone can't even get its tv network
I'm trying to resist because Canzano but that article is legit making me mad. The idea that being physically near software companies would give the conference some kind of tech boost is so unbelievably stupid. Idk, maybe he could have just talked to some people at Stanford about tech stuff?
It's the old 'rubbin elbows' thing that greedy fucks like him love. Hanging out near other rich people makes you rich.
I feel like I’m reading a Harvard Business School case study. The Disney one from several years ago comes to mind. This Scott fella needs a better understanding of what “synergy” actually means and refocus on Pac 12’s core business (and cut the shit out of expenses)
