entire conference basically puts on airs and overpays for everything, from the building they house the conference HQ in to the commissioner himself, who doesn't seem to care about the only two revenue sports that exist.
I mean et Yes, it can get cheaper. They could move the office to San Jose and pay a million and half less. That's me being conservative. They can set up in Sacramento and pay 2 to 3 mil less. They can set up in Portland and Seattle and pay less. I love San Francisco but it has one of the most expensive cities in the world.
They could get a place in salt lake for like 200 bucks a month or some shit. There’s literally no reason for them to be on the coast
if they really wanted to embrace the tech community future, they wouldn't have a central hq and most staff would work from home full-time. the few staff who required a central space would work out of a wework or some other shared office space.
$69 psf (nice) is high but doesn’t seem that crazy for downtown San Francisco office space. It’s the 100,000 sf that blows that number up. If they want to rub elbows with the silicon heavy hitters thats fine, keep an executive office there but move all the tv network production, back of the house, studios etc...off site. For comparison, you can get highrise, built out office space in bham for around $15-$20 psf on a full service lease. Just quick and dirty math here; SEC office $318,000 annual rent @ $15 psf roughly 21,000 sf of office space.
To be fair there are only 13 coaches who make more than Scott which just makes his salary look even more outrageous
Good post. The Pac12 network not being backed is huge, if the SEC network wasn't fully backed they'd have much higher cost there too.
It is pretty jacked up that I can get the Pac12 network living in Florida while my dad in Oregon cannot
Y’all remember when Larry Scott kept moving his swimming pool because he wasn’t sure where he wanted it? It took him a few tries before he realized the prior owners had it in the perfect spot.
To agree with this and to give our fellow TMbers more perspective on Canzano in general. Here is a former colleague and one of the main beat writers for the Blazers when Canzano wrote an article about ‘lockeroom’ culture about the team.
If you stuck my Portland metro house in San Francisco it would cost 4x more and would not include a yard. Downtown San Francisco is some of the most expensive real estate on earth.
This video is a perfect encapsulation as-to why Larry Scott sucks a bag runny shits. Everyone thought he was going to announce a deal with DirectTV, instead its a video of him giving himself a extension.
Part 2: A look inside the beleaguered Pac-12 instant-replay command center, where Woodie Dixon is still a central figure Part 3: Pac-12 loses 'staring contest' with DirecTV, leaving fans in the dark and limiting the conference's reach Part 4: Closing the door on the Pac-12 Conference headquarters: Is Larry Scott willing to make changes?
Things are continuing to go swimmingly for the Pac 12 Network while Larry Scott collects his $4.8 million a year salary.
Yikes, the PAC-12 network stream sucks. You west coast bros are technology challenged. The backward retarded poor whitetrash etc have better league tech than the elite PAC-12.
For everything. Had to use their feed for the USC-Razorback series this weekend Camera work and call were terrible
The irony is that Larry Scott decided it would be best to spend $3 million per year on rent so they were close to all the big tech companies.
