I’ve noticed they do not care too much about college football in this state, but I can understand why.

    - 2 pick sixes
    - 2 fumbled punts
    - 2 idiotic personal fouls
    - dropped pick 6
    - pac 12 officiating

We could have taken a knee the whole first quarter and won by multiple scores.

Just fuck it all. The nightmare is finally over.

I want to kill most of them.

  14. I'm convinced 95% of them don't watch any football outside of CU. Who the fuck would want Kingsbury, Mason, Leavitt, Tedford, etc? Terrible names.

So what other names would have interest / are realistic options then? I'm not on 247 or any of that stuff anymore so I've been kind of curious as to how things are proceeding (I was hoping we'd have our new HC in place prior to the early signing day on 12/19).

Holgorsen doesn't really seem like it is - or ever was - going to happen (his name is linked with multiple jobs *every* year and he never leaves WVU, which IMO makes it look more like a negotiating tactic in hopes of earning him a pay raise rather than Holgorsen having legit interest in leaving WVU) and I don't really view any of the G5 coaches (Harsin, Wells, ect.) as being much of an upgrade over the guys you listed.

This is a biased opinion but:

    - Tanked at Cal his last few years
    - APR scores were always bad
    - Health Concerns with the Bucs forced him to resign
    - Older
    - Didn't have great teams at Cal outside when he had a game changer like Rodgers or Jackson

  18. Chip Long, Jimmy Lake, Dave Aranda, Ryan Day, and Seth Litrell are all realistic names

Regarding the Cal points, his last few years at Cal weren't great, but it's Cal. No one has really sniffed the level of success he had there, either in recent memory before or after him. I don't think the APR scores are too much of a concern. CU has good support in that area now and CU also isn't as tough a school as Cal is academically. Ultimately the AD and admissions are going to have a role to play in APR scores, no matter who the coach is. Age isn't a big concern IMO. Saban was pretty much the same age when Bama hired him over a decade ago and we all know how that has worked out for them. Is there really any coach that isn't an alum who you could realistically see staying in Boulder over a decade? It doesn't seem like his health is an issue at this point, but obviously the AD would want a physical before hiring him given those past concerns.

The flip side of it is that pretty much everything Tedford has touched at the college level has turned to gold. What he's done at Fresno State is not only impressive but lends itself to the idea that the end of the Cal era was more of an aberration than anything. He has Fresno State at 10th in S&P+ and 24th in FPI (probably a more realistic ranking). Washington took a huge jump on the offensive side of the ball in his 1 season as an offensive consultant, and according to S&P+ was better than any UW has had since then, despite having the same more experienced QB in the following seasons. His peak Cal teams were as good as any Cal have had in the modern era and of course his prior success as a coordinator was what landed him the Cal job in the first place.

All of this isn't to say he's my absolute #1 candidate. I can see good arguments for Lake, Long, Day and maybe even Lupoi. But if he ends up as our coach, I'd be very satisfied and think it would be a big upgrade over MacIntyre.

Solid points both for, and against, Tedford.

He is not high on my list, but he falls in to the "better have an awesome staff" bucket, as with some of the others (Mason, who I do think is a strong coach).

I think it is a good time to go after a top, youngish OC/DC from a P5 who can recruit like hell. Give it a shot -- particularly given that the Buffs appear to be in the driver's seat without USC or other major programs in play. I can only assume that one/more of those listed in this thread would be available.

The new coach can come in with a senior QB, Laviska, and a nice pool of wideout talent. The defense is not devoid of talent either (though less there than I would hope), and a strong year + great recruiter may be enough to bring in a big time class. At the very least, I think it gives us the best shot to up the talent level.

Footballscoop.com (which is not to be confused with some of the other sites trying to imitate what they do, even though Footballscoop is the only one - to my knowledge - that posts info based on actual tips from coaches/agents/AD employees/ect.) is reporting the following:
    • Leavitt and and Georgia DC Mel Tucker look like the current front runners
    • Tucker will be interviewed after the SEC Championship
    • It does not sound as though Rick George was initially thrilled with the idea of bringing back Leavitt (they say his departure in 2016 left a bad taste in RG's mouth, though they seem to have buried the hatchet with the help of "power brokers" who feel Leavitt would be a quality hire)
    • Because of the similarities between he and Tucker, they suggest Washington DC Jimmy Lake is still a possibility (they describe both as energetic, positive coaches who are skilled recruiters)
    • Vandy HC Derek Mason is also mentioned
    • They kind of come to the conclusion that (based on the one thing these names all have in common i.e. they're defensive coaches) it seems likely we'll be hiring a defensive minded coach, with Chev being retained to hold recruiting and the team together
    • It sounds like things will be wrapping up sooner than later once championship games have been played
Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just giving you a recap of their write up

I still plan on responding, but I wanted to take the time to give each of these guys the consideration (and thus research into their qualifications) they deserve before jumping to any conclusions about whether they'd be a good fit (in my subjective opinion, of course)

This will be wildly interesting. Can't wait to see his staff. Assuming this also means Chev stays.(Idk if I'd like that)

The DBs won't be arm tackling anymore so that will be nice.
