Right. I'm not saying someone shouldn't pay $22k on a watch if that's what they want to do. Retail is $9k though. Is it customary to pay over 2x retail for a new watch?
The retail is around 9k... a bit absurd to pay 22k when you can wait 1-2 years and get it for 60% less from an authorized dealer. This is from someone who waited and got the blue/black GMT at retail from an AD
This seems to be a pretty good deal for anyone in the $600 market. Ball is a highly respected brand. https://slickdeals.net/f/11750891-b...-automatic-black-dial-men-s-watch-599-shipped
Admittedly not knowledgable about watches at all. Thinking something like Rolex, Breitling, IWC, etc. Entry level stuff.
I know one is a field watch and one a dive, but considering a khaki field auto chrono full black or clipperton with rubber strap. Obviously a price gap there, but anything of note I should know in final decision? Thank you, gents.
I have 2 oris's and love them both. I feel like oris is a step above Hamilton in recognition, but both have really good reputations
Oris is certainly priced & marketed a step above, but there isn’t any real difference in their movements, as Hamilton’s are ETA & Oris use ETA clones. They have both recently began using “in house movements” in some models, but they are limited to parts they had difficulty sourcing. Both are great manufacturers. I own a Hamilton & want a Oris Big Criwn Pointer-Date eventually. Go with whichever you like & buy with confidence
Was it stric006? @2, you'll be in great shape mechanically between the two. The one other thing you might consider is versatility. Would want to wear one vs the other with a suit, for example.
I played poker with a guy who had a Rolex with black band (not leather, steel or w/e), black face, and red dial - I’ve seen some Daytona’s that look really similar online, but they appear to be modified Rolex’s... “Titan Stealth”... thoughts on these? Are these Rolex’s with after market parts, does this hinder value? It was sharp as shit, but curious if this is the equivalent to putting Auto Zone parts on a Ferrari?
can't say for sure without knowing what it actually looked like. Generally, it's pretty tacky imo to modify any high-end watch beyond what the company already does with it.
Is it just a pvd coating on a traditional rolex? If so, it would probably be akin to making an update to a house that not everyone will like. It will hinder resale for many, and increase it for a few. I don't buy watches as investments, so I say go for it if you like it. I switched out the hands on one cheaper diver, and it's interesting to think that it's the only one of its kind out there.
Another shot out on Hamilton. My Khaki Field is such a great daily wear, dress up or down. And awesomely priced. I'm hoping to finally get my coveted Omega here soon. Likely will go through Crown and Caliber as I'm so unfamiliar with the AD options. Am I making a huge mistake? Anyone have a connect on Omegas?
Probably something like this but with different band? Bamford is probably the highest regarded high end watch customizer, but they are obviously incredibly polarizing. Some love them, a lot of people think it’s sacreligious.
Don't want to solicit but we are running another watch sale. Any in stock TAG Heuer I can sell for 35% off plus shipping. You do not owe sales tax if you live outside Alabama where we are located. Also, our Shinola watches are 25% off and same deal with shipping and tax. We are an authorized dealer of both and we ship overnight. Please don't be a russian bot tricking me into sending you something. PM me for questions.
stric006 Do you have the Runwell 41mm in Mother of Pearl or the Runwrll 41mm Chrono “Blue Eyed Beauty?”
I'm in the market for a 26mm ladies datejust. White dial. Roman numeral markers. Gold/Steel jubilee bracelet. Have anything similar? Can you source?
I’m not huge into watches but I do like a couple, picked up this Omega first man on the moon watch and I really like the Rolex submariner... that’ll be my next watch.
Hello, looking into Rolex and thinking about either Submariner or Yacht Master. I really want a Daytona but I think my girlfriend would kill me. I think I'm going to go to a watch store (I pass Torneau regularly) and try some on to get a better sense of what I like.
The Explorer II is my favorite Rolex. It's also less cliche than the Submariner (don't get me wrong, I still love the sub) and less flashy than the Yacht Master. It's also the only Rolex with the new Parachrom hairspring.
