i’ve gotten used to layman’s terminology dealing with this type of stuff nutrition should be a required class in hs/college
I hope so, but... Consuming carbohydrates from whole foods such as fruits, vegetables and legumes provide a high-quality fuel for brain function that is superior to glucose and fructose-sweetened processed foods. Eat plenty of carbohydrates for optimal brain function.
It’s amazing the cravings you have on the front end. I could absolutely destroy an Hebert’s deboned stuffed chicken with broccoli and cheese rice.
I used to think that the whole "sugar is as addictive as cocaine" line was complete horseshit. I smoked spirits for 3 years college and had an easier time stopping that than I did sugar. All I wanted for the first month was a giant plate of spaghetti and a blizzard for dessert.
successfully made a fat head pizza tonight. not as good as a regular one but definitely scratched the itch I was having for some pizza. also noticed today that my damn multivitamin has 3 g carbs/serving. no more gummies for me I guess
Throw some Halo Tops in your freezer and just take 1-2 bites when you’re feeling frisky. I had gummy worms shoved in my shorts for long runs (over 18) all the time.
Wine is a definite trigger. I had plenty to eat tonight but two glasses of wine has me really wanting something filling and sweet.
I can’t get over the buzz on this diet. I’m halfway through one vodka and diet ginger ale and I’m feeling it
Liquor? I hardly know her. HATTERASJACK EDIT: I would like to thank user Wes Tegg for the advice on Tito’s, Topo Chico, Diet Grape juice. I don’t think that was his exact recommendation but it was great and got me through the SEC Championship
Yea I may just need to lay off, I don’t like to drink liquor at home, haven’t since I was much younger. Only drink beer on the golf course or when I’m outdoors.
Guys it’s better for your health if you don’t drink and isn’t your health why you’re changing your lifestyle?
Now when you say “long runs (over 18)” are you referring to your age or minutes running? Because surely not 18 fucking miles. Or 18 gummy worms?
There’s lots of anecdotal evolutionary evidence for keto and IF; ie both follow our species’ roots as far as caloric consumption. That being said, it’s also Scientifically proven that carbohydrates support higher level brain function. I try to keep the two in balance by limiting carbs and not eating anything refined if I can.
link? i want to check it out i don’t think i’m doing keto forever, i feel like it’s something your supposed to do for a length of time (3+ mo) but not necessarily forever. seems like most of the studies out there are about using it as a treatment to reverse a lot of conditions but i’m not sure what the proper protocol is for how long you’re supposed to do it for the science is there for a diet like the mediterranean, and something like that seems like a perfectly healthy and nutritionally balanced diet. i’m sure there are many ways to go about it with various diets and stay healthy, but keto seems more like a treatment prescription for medical issues and weight loss (and obesity related complications) more than a lifestyle. has anyone seen anything regarding that? i know the benefits of what i’m doing now, but i still want to be able to eat fruits and veggies again and the occasional pizza. i feel like that’s a more balanced diet that will keep you healthy after keto has gotten you healthy. and then maybe do a cycle every so offen just to get some of the benefits i probably got off on a tangent but i’ve been working late and my mind is still on keto speed
Here is a good article on fasting and why it helps burn fat. https://betterhumans.coach.me/why-caloric-restriction-fails-part-2-ec0c0c337649
You guys that have been doing it for a while how often do you cheat? I’m going home for the holidays and this is gonna be hard
Having a straight up sugar craving. My brain is trying to trick me into going to get bbq so it can tempt me into using sauce.
This is pretty interesting to me. My mom has Type 2 diabetes and for my health insurance through work we're required to do a screening every year because we get credits for certain health stats. They always test our blood for glucose levels and mine has never returned anything alarming but it been higher than ideal. I'm somewhat tempted to start out IF by just pushing back my breakfast on weekdays and see how I feel to test the waters
I’m gonna be good until Christmas then cheat a good bit then start back up in the new year. These three weeks leading up are to establish a routine and get my bearings.
My office is directly across from our kitchen and there’s donuts and kolaches in there multiple times a week. Yesterday a wholesaler sent three pizzas over and they put them in there for me to just watch people having a little pizza party.

Was going to post earlier that I am loving salads. Like ordered them out a few times and they were fantastic. I never hated salad or anything, just saying never thought I would enjoy them this much.
