I'm not anti Mazara, I just wouldn't give up much for him. Duvall is probably as valuable given the defense.

 

Duvall has had a higher wRC+ than Mazara every year until last season. Also been more valuable based on WAR. Was even more valuable last year based on bWar.

 

Worth at least mentioning Mazara doesn't even turn 24 until April. Really young.

Sure. He's not perfect. But he hit pretty well last year before his injury, and the injury wrecked his second half. There are reasons to like him, and reasons to stay away.

Definitely pitching for bat, Rangers are starved for arms. They won't give him away though, nor should they. Be less costly than a Haniger or someone like that, obviously.

.272/.332/.450 before the thumb injury intrigues me is all. It'd be a bet on him developing and progressing, growing into his upside. I'm not saying he'd be my first choice, or even my first choice from the Rangers (Gallo). I just don't think it'd be some disaster either if he was the guy.
