local bar set up Smash and my god it is great challenging other drunken idiots to a round. I suck but hold my own with Kirby.
My hope is this will happen at some point. I already have the download keys for MM, OOT and LBW from my 3DS, so that would be suuuper.
3DS has a boatload of ports I want on Switch. I got rid of my 3DS because it is the least ergonomically efficient controller I’ve ever used. I think Pokémon Moon expedited my De Quervain’s.
I’ve been contemplating buying a switch and smash for a while. Now i keep finding myself looking at deals for the switch with a pro controller.
I may need to step up to the pro for MK11. How have Switch games been for the ones who have PS4 counterparts?
Graphics are obviously a downgrade. MK11 will probably run at 720p or maybe 900p, while the others will be 2k or 4k. But you don't buy a third party game on switch for the graphics. You buy for the portability.
Mario Odyssey for $45 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Nintendo-Super-Mario-Odyssey-Nintendo-Switch/56011600
How much space does Odyssey take up? Was planning on buying it anyways, might just get that to tide me over.
A hilariously small 5GB, maybe 6GB after some updates and such, but I remember thinking how crazy it was they packed so much into such a small file. Meanwhile NBA2Kx is like 200GB
It’s amazing how little space odyssey and Zelda take up Also Jake Barnes get one of these Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM)
Yeah Wu I figured an SD card would be in the works at some point. I'm all set up and ready to go. Downloaded the NES Online app and got Odyssey coming. :bartscott: Can't believe how simple set up was. The best part is I have two TVs (bedroom and living room) and the dock has so few moving parts, it would be a cinch to switch between them.
Oh also a screen protector is a nice thing to have. Just between normal handheld function and sliding in and out of dock, it’s been a huge plus for protection and peace of mind.
I actually should get a second dock just to move it around the house depending on what TV I want to use. But the screen protector is a must imo. I know there were early reports of people scratching theirs while docking. I actually forgot I had one until it was just mentioned so that says how much I notice it.
If you’re getting a second dock don’t spend the $80-90 on the Nintendo one and get a more scaled down one or even a usbc to hdmi cable
Played Odyssey for a couple hours and I can already safely say this will change how I game. Experimented with several different controller schemes and portable/console and it's honestly amazing Nintendo was able to make everything work as well as it does. The graphical fidelity will never match my PS4, but as a second console, I couldn't be happier with this. If they add the virtual console compatibility along with 3DS stuff I'll be a pig in mud.
Careful with this. There’s several options but any USB-C not made to Nintendo’s standards can brick the console.
At some point Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze should be a must buy...it’s so amazing, particularly in handheld...it’s awesome on the big screen too, but sitting on the couch with the tv + DKTF is unbeatable
50% of all Switch owners have Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, and Mario Kart 8. That's incredible. I own all three, as well as Splatoon and several indie games. I imagine Smash is soon to join the 50% club.
Have the first two and I imagine the third will be on there within the week. That sort of IP saturation is why they can continue charging full price for the games and not bat an eye.
Technically it’s yesterday-18th, but I’m hoping it’s today. If so, hope everybody has a good weekend/month/year.
To clarify, those each have an attach rate of 50%+. It’s not saying 50% of Switch owners have all 3. Either way is damn impressive. There was a long spell in the console’s first 3-6 months that BotW had an attach rate of greater than 100% as people were buying it when they saw it thinking it was just as difficult to find as the console itself.
I've got Odyssey, Zelda, Pokemon so far. I had Mario tennis and crash bandicoot but I sold them on eBay after getting tired of them for like 95% of what I paid retail
So when the switch first came out I played a ton of BoTW, beat the 4 bosses, then stopped playing due to work for way too long. Month or so ago I started a new game for the hell of it, forgot how damn good it is.
