Major Redmask spoiler Spoiler not really, but is it the most disappointing storyline in the whole series?
I love this series but I still can’t get over the dinosaurs with sword hands shit Cracks me up every time
For the longest time I was just imagining them more like a demon with sword claws, then rereading the descriptions the next time they showed up I was like, oh shit it’s actually a ghost dinosaur with literal swords for arms
Spoiler I am going to be disappointed if Erickson doesn’t give me AT LEAST 120+ pages of Karsa killing Rhulad again and again and again
Never seen a family compete for title of most arrogant fuck head like the Sengar family Man Binadas got off easy
40 pages left in RG I still have no idea what is happening during anything involving Icarium, the Errant, or the Imass
RG ending is a real kick to the feels. Toll the Hounds may be an even bigger kick. Enjoy, its a wild ride from here on out. One review I read of Deadhouse Gates back when I was first getting into the series was that the Chain of Dogs was foreshadowing the series as a whole. I found that to be very true.
Funny how I kept complaining about wanting to go back to Darujhistan and now that I’m back I wanna go to Letheras
I got to 20% in Toll The Hounds but now taking a break to finish Guns,Germs and Steel and Brief Answers to the Big Questions. Toll the Hounds starting slow, and I really can’t force myself to care about any of the remaining Tiste Andii characters outside Anomamder Rake tbh. Rest of the book has been p solid setting up, slow, but normal for the series.
I thought Toll the Hounds was slow but really I just couldn’t stop playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Now that I’ve beat it I should be able to get back into this full swing
While reading the so far released Kharkhanas books I like to think about how perpetually pissed Anomander must be having to live with these people. I think Silchas has fun with them, at least.
Toll the Hounds 48% through Spoiler Tiste Andii confronting the Dying God gives us our first HAIRLOCK reference in how many fucking books? Holy fuck I only have the vaguest of memories of where we last saw that doll. Have mercy on my brain, Steven. Side note, he uses a shit ton of Deus ex machina to randomly solve plot problems in the name of "No one knows how magic and ascendants work" cover. While I appreciate the creativeness, it does bug me in some situations.
At this point I would rather skip this 4 page Skintick POV and not know what’s hapoening than to put up with this boring bullshit. Fuck Tiste Andii!
Fuck me. 89% through Toll the Hounds and I went on the wiki to refresh myself about Dassem Ultor after Spoiler "Traveler" finally gets to Darujistan. And I read a huge spoiler about him at the end of Toll the Hounds I haven't gotten to yet. Spoiler Killing Rake?? Fuck fuck fuck fuck
This was dumb This was dumber. Really sucks, I’ve been waiting for y’all to get to the end of this book. However that’s only one portion of this epic ending
Holy shit that was a sweet moment, too bad I spoiled it for myself. Still cool though. Of the few things Erikson does poorly, I think most of his sword fights are too short. I think Sanderson does them much better. I think big battle sequences he is excellent though.
I would pay $Texas for an Iskaral Pust and Kruppe buddy cop novella. What a series of scenes I didn't even know I needed in my life until this moment.
Finished. Read the last 20% of the book tonight. Couldn't put it down. Very good book overall, it just gets better and better towards the end. Couple of thoughts: Spoiler Can someone simplify what Rake did to destroy the chaos/child god? He went into Dragnipur and help destroy the blind Tiste Andii responsible for creating the chaos child god? Or was his sacrifice just to end Dragnipur forever like Draconus said? Also, basically Aranatha/Mother Dark incarnate made the Dying god just run away out of Clip? That whole sequence wasn't super clear if that's just the end of the dying god forever or what. Also, where was Dassem/Traveller going that Rake was "in his way of"? He asked him to step down/away or he'd have to kill him, but I didn't understand what he was standing in the way of? Also, not sure what happened to the Traveller after the end of the story, completely glossed over that? Also, Clip still being alive is the worst outcome of the book, worse than Rake being dead. Also who was the unnamed elder god with Kruppe and the Bard at the end when Kruppe is dancing? I'm assuming Draconus? Overall, I think this is my favorite book in the series, despite all the melodramatic Tiste Andii bullshit chapters.
