Oooooooo Badlands featuring Jake E. Lee. Out of print for a while and the license gets pulled quickly when someone does reprint. A true collectors item.
There is a clear delineation between 80s butt rock and 2000s butt rock. The former has guilty pleasures all over the place and the latter is just pure fucking shit with no redeemable value like Three Days Grace or whoever did that brutal Headstrong song. Guns N Roses doesn’t belong in either category. They were just a legit badass rock band, especially with Appetite for Destruction before they got bloated.
Disagree. While 80s buttrock is cringeworthy in its own nostalgic way, a great many of the 80s buttrock bands featured magnificent musicians who were at the forefront of neoclassical inspired heavy metal guitar. 2000s buttrock is a bunch of power chord shitting rap-rockers.
Yes, I agree with you. I thought it was clear from my comments that 80s buttrock is infinitely better than the shit that happened in the 2000s.
I read a tidbit ? about fields of course if you promote ignore you probably did,nt catch it , huh smallish fish . ?
I think a lot of the 80s hard rock imagery is cringeworthy. A lot of the lyrics too. And as mentioned, a lot of excellent musicians. Just a tragedy how all that great music baby just got thrown out with the image bathwater.
Butt yeah the will never be a time, ever, where tmb looks back at 2000s hard rock and says, "you know, that stuff was really good"
Watched a cinderella live dvd recently. Tom Keifer, case in point. Just a phenomenal musician, guitar player, song writer, etc. Victim of the mass extinguishment of hair metal. 'Rella's not even a true butt metal band and i consider keifer among simply the best post-aerosmith hard rock guys like guns and black crows Tesla is another tragic victim
Like, great guitar solos. Great drummers. But, are you a lady or a man? Dee Snider got a bunch of shit for dressing like a drag queen but he was like 9/10 lady when most other contemporaries were a 7, at worst.
I still enjoy listening to Night Songs. If you have the AccuRadio app, there’s a good hair metal channel. Big fan of Motley Crue still. Love me some Shout at the Devil and Too Fast for Love as well as their later stuff.
Wow what a great thread. This is absolutely my favorite genre of music but I have to admit I have never heard the term butt rock before. Also nice to see I am not the only big fan of Ratt.
One of these days I've got to go on the Monsters of Rock cruise. Four days with 50 or so of these bands would be so much fun.
Yeah i can't believe they fired him. They're not gonna survive long. But i thought the same thing when they lost crosby
Yeah no shit. I can't afford that price right now, dammit. You know what though, Tom Keifer is the guy I feel I need to see most from that lineup. Guy's one of the most underrated musicians in rock history. The trajectory his career took after Heartbreak Station is nothing short of tragic
From what I heard they didn't fire him he just wasn't interested in touring anymore. Demartini supposedly is a trust find kid or something and I guess just doesn't feel the need to tour anymore. Lets face it the money can't be too great playing small clubs. The sad thing is Ratt was every bit as popular as Motley but the infighting and poor marketing really hurt them. There is no reason why Motley was playing arenas till the very end while Ratt struggles to do business in clubs.
He took a couple laps through MN and i missed him each time. Now he's takin a break to crank out a new record.
One of those oddball obscurities I have a soft spot for. I find the standout tracks to be Lose Control, Baby That's Crude, Kicked Out Of Fantasy and I Wanna Be With you. They had a decent following, vinyl release can still be had for $40-$50.
Buddy picked up this band Tsunami that ripped real greasy. Bass player's name was Max Load which would be the greatest name I guess I've ever heard Like a buttier UFO. I'll allow it
These guys do a good job without being quite as super Steele Panthery ironic about it. They actually sound pretty damn good
but(t) then again, Sweden just decided they were going to keep rock alive so that shouldn't be surprising
