9. Graeme Stinson, LHP, Duke Why It Makes Sense: No team develops and drafts arms like the Braves, so let's give them the first pitcher off the board. There are a pair of big-time prep righthanders who could make sense in Brennan Malone and Daniel Espino, but it also seems hard for a college lefthander with Stinson’s size and stuff to not go inside the top 10 of this draft. Atlanta’s last five first-round selections have all been pitchers, and going back to 2009 the Braves have had 10 first-round picks—nine of which were pitchers. 21. Matthew Allen, RHP, Seminole (Fla.) HS Why It Makes Sense: The Braves have two picks in the first round, so one has to be a high school righthander, right? Allan has a big fastball that’s reached the mid-90s and a hammer, 12-to-6 curveball. Both offerings project as future plus pitches, and Allan also has a physical, 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame that Atlanta could find appealing.
Worth remembering it's December and teams aren't even close to having their draft boards set up. It's pure guessing at this point.
In five more years we'll have enough arms compiled to trade for a middle of the road outfielder with one year left on his contract!
We field a team comprised entirely of pitchers. Batters will have no idea where the pitch is coming from. All games end tied.
Can already tell Greg Jones from UNCW is going to be my draft guy for the latter of the two Braves first round picks. Plus speed, big arm, athletic, some pop from both sides, questionable hit tool.
don’t be ridiculous JTQS is a fake stat. TQS on the other hand is a peer reviewed stat recognized in many baseball circles
The thing that I love about baseball is that its fans are really opinated dudes who love to argue over numbers.
They had a lot of money coming off the books (22 million just from Bryce alone) so not surprising they are spending it all and a few more Not worried about them
Hope y'all are well buddy! We should try and line up a game again next year. Your Braves dedication is impressive.
Cheers mate, all good over here! I’ve got the schedule out, working on a visit back to ATL, will see how we go - will keep you posted!
Granted I don't follow Cincy prospects and both guys are real young but neither are in any top 100 list (I don't think) and an awful Homer Bailey?? Kemp is a salary dump, plus Wood who is OK then Puig is solid. Gotta be missing something on the prospects
