It’s gross out, but I’ll take this rain now in exchange for the sunshine we should be getting Saturday through Tuesday.
I'm at the office and the wife texted me a picture of the pool about to overflow. Hope it holds off until I can get home.
The one thing I didn't want when we looked for a house was a pool. I now own a house with a pool that I have used at least 5-10 times in the last 2 years.
Has anyone had the meatloaf sandwich at Soul Food Street Kitchen in Armature Works? It might be in the top five sandwiches (of any kind) that I’ve ever had. Just insanely good.
I love it. We are in ours 1-2 times a week when the weather is good. I have friends though that never use theirs.
Going to the outback bowl to support my dogs. First time going to the Raymond James area. Will I be ok to find parking on game day or should I buy a more expensive parking pass? The website sends me to parking jockey which I haven’t heard of.
Tampa tMBers, I’m getting into Tampa on the 30th for the outback bowl and was curious what were some good bars to hit up in the downtown area?
In addition to the options provided above, you can park at Jesuit HS which is like a half mile north of the stadium.
Not sure how old you are but if you're below 30 I'd recommend the bars on South Howard (Soho) which is a few minutes from downtown.
Nope. Gators are my number 2 school. Met my wife when I was living in Gainesville. She got her undergrad and masters from UF. I knew Mullen wasn’t going to be around forever. It was a good fit for him and the school but it was a good time for the split. Just grateful he got us to where we are. Question is can JoMo sustain it or surpass it.
Serious answer: The Gin Joint off Franklin St in downtown. Went there a month ago and it was awesome if you like great drinks and want to avoid the college crowd.
Used to be home to the best happy hour in town. First Friday of every month from 4-6 was $20 all you can drink. Shots, top shelf, etc. I also won a DH t shirt that my gf threw away while doing laundry.
American Social is the biggest bar around and will have all the talent you could want. If you insist on staying downtown, The Local and Yeomans are two decent bars. Franklin Manor has a bit more of a club feel with larger outdoor area. CW Gin Joint is good for a nice cocktail/lounge feel. The Hub and Anchor Bar are dives if you’re into that thing. Especially The Hub. Pretty sure they still smoke in the FYI.
Thank y'all for the recommendations. This is why tMB is by far the best site on the interwebz, the hottest of takes and good recommendations for pretty much anywhere. Pretty drunk from Christmas Eve festivities, Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.
Tampa's bar scene is weird as there is no main bar area in downtown proper. If you're looking to bar hop, SoHo or Ybor are really the only places with a bunch of places in walking distance of each other. There's some food hall places in downtown that are great (Sparkman's Wharf, Armature Works), but not the place to watch a game as I don't think they have any TVs. If you're looking for a sports bar downtown, Hattricks or Fergs Live are solid
Heading to Tampa from Orlando on Saturday to watch the Pens and Lightning game. Any food suggestions? Would rather not do the typical Winghouse/Ale House type ordeal, but mostly just looking for a sports bar. I'm a seafood guy, too. I've been suggested Ferg's by someone so I'm looking into that, I'm just worried about the crowd. We'll be in Pens garb.
Stopping at the one in Lakeland was considered, but imo Winghouse > Hooters. I've looked at Sparkman Wharf a little bit. Not sure what to make of it. Seems like it might be a little pricier than I'm looking, but I've never been.
Go to Hattricks. It’s a hockey/sports bar within walking distance of the arena. Get the shake and bake wings. Delicious. You can grab a beer at Fergs before or after the game, but I wouldn’t recommend eating there. Sparkmans Wharf will be packed Saturday. Still may be a cool place to walk around for a light snack or beer.
Orrrr go to Bernini’s in Ybor and throw back seven $3 martinis and take the free trolley to the arena.
