Theres a chance we resign kakes, but that doesnt mean we arent turning over the world looking for an upgrade
I will say if you sign Harper, that stadium will be full on most weekdays and it should be. It would pay for itself quickly. I wish we could get him on a 6 year deal. I think it’s beneficial for him and us. It gives him the option of going to the AL in his later years to DH and also could let him chase a(nother) title as he pleases. I would try and sell it as a LeBron contract when he went to Miami. No chance it happens.
As a Braves fan, I’m for this. But as a Liberty Media stockholder, I’m against anything that affects my dividend.
makes sense that they know they are out on Machado so they move on to Dallas Keuchel, if they only end up with Keuchel that would be awesome for us
Still can make a trade, but if the Braves can do something like 2 yrs 10 mil/yr that wouldn't be too bad for Kakes.
If the Braves sign Kakes, and make no more moves, we might make playoffs, but this team will not be competitive for much more than that. We have mediocre pitching and 4 bad/non-contending everyday hitters in our lineup (Kakes, Dansbae, McCann, and Ender). Not the best recipe for big things. Not to mention, this is assuming Folty continues his upward trend, Ozzie kicks his slump, and Newcomb gets a little bit better. It would take a lot of luck and unprecedented improvement from a lot of players in order for the Braves to compete for an NL pennant. What bugs me is the big deal last year when we picked up all these bad contracts, so we could have open books for the 2019 season. Donaldson is an amazing start, but I did expect more impactful moves. Also, grass is green.
No idea if this enters into Atlanta's line of thinking at all, but for me, if they were to bring Markakis back on a one-year deal, Atlanta would start the 2019-20 offseason with the same exact holes they had this past offseason (Third base, corner outfielder, platoon/backup catcher). I can't imagine that's something they want to deal with, hence doing all they can to find a controllable OF via trade.
pleased that chip now uses his social media to air chicken grievances instead of peddling conspiracy theories
Surely there’s better chicken options in the South than KFC? Don’t get me wrong, I love my KFC down here every Sunday, but that’s international chain stuff.
*and happy NY from Moylan-land to all of you. Hopefully we get a chance to catch up in person in 2019 and lets having some fun.
- The Cincinnati Reds showed significant interest in Atlanta Braves center fielder Ender Inciarte, according to sources, and though talks stagnated and eventually they dealt for outfielders Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp, Cincinnati still doesn't have a center fielder. - Among those who are clearly available, Sonny Gray might head the list. The number of trade iterations around Gray this winter has been staggering. There was traction, at one point, on a three-way deal among the Yankees, Rangers and Braves that would have sent Gray to Atlanta, a prospect to Texas and infielder Jurickson Profar to New York. The Rangers wound up shipping Profar to Oakland in another three-way deal with the Tampa Bay Rays. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/25653903/why-baseball-world-waiting-manny-bryce
braves need to revamp that trade (or another 3 way trade) to get sonny gray, I think getting out of NY is the best answer for him and their is a lot of upside imo
guy who accurately predicted Gerrit Cole to Astros, and Machado to Dodgers last year predicts we get Bumgarner
I'm not opposed depending on price. Hopefully our defense can help him play up a notch compared to his recent analytics
Good for Robertson to get that while being his own agent. A little expensive for a guy who could wind up being our 3rd best reliever in some scenarios. I definitely would’ve liked him though.
Trade Ender to Cinci for Puig. Acuna to Center Obtain Bum and Gray for Julio, Allard, etc. ... Championship
I think we should sign Machado instead of Harper since Gin is worried about our gaping hole at third base.
