Awful for his development. 10+ other squads would have been better. Ah well, wish him the best though, for the USMNT concerns.

C'mon bro, look at the world of good that a Chelsea move was for Matt Miazga!

Seriously though, all this leads me to believe that Eden Hazard is out the door to Spain. I'm not sure Pulisic is the man to replace Hazard, either.

More of a replacement for Willian/Pedro long term was my first thought. If sarri survives this year though I wonder if you see pulisic move into a central midfield role similar to how de bruyne moved from an attacking mid/winger to a central midfielder under pep.

Again, why? I don’t understand what’s bad about it. He moves to Chelsea as a 20 yr old and will have chances next season.

The best case scenario is he takes a step forward and becomes a top player in the EPL. The worst case scenario is he fails to impress and eventually gets loaned out and/or sold in a couple of years. That isn’t the end of the world as evidenced by Salah, De Bruyne, etc.

Some of you are viewing this the wrong way. Chelsea do a horrible job of integrating our own youth or youth players that have been loaned out into the squad. We give all big money purchases PLENTY of chances.

Well #1 as you said if he's not great right away he's going to be on the bench, Chelsea has a shitty track record of developing young players. #2 who knows who his manager will be in 2 seasons, and what formation and style the new manager will play. The fact that before he kicks a ball for Chelsea we are talking about him hopefully getting loaned out into the perfect situation so he can develop is telling.

Morata is half way through his 3rd straight season at Chelsea without accumulating 3,000 minutes played in a season in all competitions.

Yeah but those are risks for moving to any club. If you don’t impress you start losing playing time. Managers turnover.

How many clubs provide a similar challenge to Chelsea with those risks being that much lower? Dortmund was seen as a comfortable situation and he lost playing time this season.

Bakayoko has been doing really well at Milan. Michy did well at Dortmund last year but is struggling as part of a struggling Valencia this year. Hardly the end of the world for either of them.

No one turns managers over like Chelsea. Since Jose took over in 2004, I don't think they've had anyone last 4 full seasons.

But you can find failed purchases at all the big clubs. That’s the risk of playing for them.

He has an opportunity for playing time. If he performs then great, if not, he’ll get sold or loaned just like at any other club.

If Hazard stays and CP can play right wing and rotate a little bit to get used to the PL, there are ingredients for success. If Hazard leaves and CP is viewed as the 75mm man he is with the existing supporting cast in attack around him, it could get ugly fast. I’m sure Chelsea fans will give him a year or two (which imo he will need to reach his full potential) to adapt...

That’s what’s I don’t know. Willian is terrible in general but he’s much worse on the right. Pedro is our only true RW and he’s 32. I would think pulisic is going to play on the right. Part of me thinks he could be better as the more attack minded of our midfield 3 but that would require too much additional investment in attack.

Hard for us to plan too much until we know about hazard. His decision impacts everything. He is irreplaceable so we would have to build the squad in a different way if he left.

    We’ll take him at sunder
Why not? What’s so bad about it, in the context of a £50 mil+ young player joining a top 6 club?

He’ll get his shot, as did Sane, Depay, Martial, Eriksen, Bernardo, Hazard, etc. He’s not Charly Musonda.

I didn’t want him at Chelsea but I feel like he will get plenty more chances than the names people are throwing out there.

They just paid more than anyone in the EPL did last Summer for an outfield player outside of Mahrez. He’s going to get plenty of chances

Their shitty TMB fanbase (Popovio is a cunt of the highest order) and actual Bond villain of an owner aside, I think most people are concerned that A) he's not going to get anywhere near the playing time he needs to continue to develop and B) Chelsea's propensity for squandering/not developing young talent

Hopefully they'll give up on him in 6-9 months and sell him back to a mid table Bundesliga club so he can come back and bury them 12 months later.

Musonda is a lol great reference. And I mean let’s be fair - Depay flamed out, Martial has been good not great, Sane is a backup for City these days. All young players with direct attacking styles from the wing like CP. Hazard is a World XI talent to go with hard work and interestingly its the more ball dominant midfielders in Bernardo and Eriksen who to me have had the most success, ie guys who can think as much as they can play.

This was always going to be the argument. He was never not going to a top 6 side as his next stop. I think now everybody’s kind of like oh shit, my fantasy is now real and what if that bubble gets burst and already beginning to hedge why it didn’t work, because it will suck if it doesn’t work and a lot of American fan boys, all of us included, will have to deal with our best ever player being considered to be a huge flop by the soccer collective that drives the narrative.

Watching twitter, a lot of English fans didn't want Pulisic to land at their club because they already think he's over hyped solely because he's American.

I’m not arguing that Pulisic will be a success or a failure - just that he’ll get opportunities like those guys did, which is all you can ask imo. Whether he lives up to his price tag remains to be seen and is too hard to predict.

A lot of pulisic’s success as viewed by the majority will be determined by goals and assists. I’d argue his success hinges more on who Chelsea brings in at striker/if hazard stays than anything else.

yea I get it, but he had already lost his place at Dortmund and he wasn’t going to take a step down on this transfer so it’s on him to earn his spot. he will get a chance at Chelsea as reprehensible a club as they are.
