I just tried listening to Phish live stuff and I'm not sure of ever been more neutral on a band before No chance I vote to stay Sunday
nah i just decided to take a random strong take he's hard to peg to a single genre but if we're using that list he fits more under indie/pop rock. you could make an equally strong case for alternative. country/folk depending on how deep from the catalog he's pulling from. fuck even his newer stuff you could throw in the 'other' category before jam/jazz/blues. if my morning jacket was on the bill you could make more of a case for 'jam' than jim james' solo stuff does but even then they'd probably tell you to suck their kentucky dicks if you called them a jamband
They haven’t announced anything yet. I’ll try to get one if they do. I think I still have posters from 16? Maybe? I need to check my closet.
Phish has certainly been on fire recently, but all their festival sets in recent memory have been very average and by no means anything special
Will a lot of people be leaving Sunday and if so can I just buy their wristbands? Are their single day Sunday tickets? /signed, but given that it’s phish three hours from my house I’ll end up driving over.
You would have to get them off my wrist and onto yours. Unlikely. Single-game tickets don't exist I don't think but you can get single day admission with shuttle from Nashville but you have to ride the shuttle
I've never done it myself but talked to a few people personally that did just that in '16 for Dead and Co. R/Bonnaroo tickets Ask there or r/Bonnaroo for pro tips
I live an hour away and know tons of folks who go up on Sunday and grab a wristband from people leaving. Most are willing to take $40-50 for them or even give away. Just make sure they're not janky and look okay on your wrist. The people who work toll booths and entrance to centeroo won't give a shit too much. You can check FB, CL, or r/bonnarootickets.
24 hours later, fuck the haters. This lineup is going to be fun as fuck. I struck out on my wish list, but after a day of listening to Spotify I'm pumped. Tell em Mick
Same. It’s missing a big headliner and a few acts I was really hoping to see but it’s definitely the deepest lineup since I’ve been going in 2014 imo
Let’s get weird. I’ve made Spotify playlists for each day. At least an album or so for each act. I love discovering new acts. It’s gonna take a while though. Only 154 days to prepare for next hockey sea.. I mean Bonnaroo.
folks who have been, what can i expect? debauchery? rachet crowds or happy friendly people? A four-day pass might be a bit much for me
Definitely some downbill stuff I'd like to see and absolutely want to see Phish and Childish, but I think I'm in the crowd of going Sunday and tracking down a cheap band to see Phish/rest of the day. Was able to snag a band for $12 years ago to see Tom Petty. Paid more for a beer inside. Saving my money for Lock'n, I think.
As rowdy and fun a weekend as you’ll ever have. Lots of debauchery. Lots of happy, friendly people. It’s a great time that can’t really be replicated anywhere else.
This. Take it easy on Thursday night and plan for a chill (relatively speaking) Sunday. Friday and Saturday nights at Bonnaroo are to this day some of the best nights of my life.
Last year I blew off Thursday, didn't miss it at all, and have no intention of ever going to one. Too old for that much
Thursday is fun for getting the lay of the land and discovering some smaller acts. Wonder around the pods.
Good Vibes are brought by 95-99% of the crowd. Prepare to give more high fives than you ever have in your life. If you come prepared, it will be an all time amazing weekend. I need my ass kicked for not going sooner in my life, but this will be 7 in a row for me. Doing all 4 days is nothing if you pace yourself. It's okay to take breaks and camp under a tent in the shade waiting an hour for the next act to start. As said above, Sunday is definitely a chill day. Bonnaroo is the place to let your freak flag fly if you have one. You will have so much impromptu fun on The Farm. Just go wherever the vibes take you. Yes that sounds hippie cliche but it's true. Don't try to do it all. You can't. And the ass. All the tits and ass.
Lineup is fine. It's definitely not terrible (or I'd say even bad), just probably missing another big headliner and maybe a little bit of undercard depth. Day by day: Thursday (Grade: N/A) - Not enough to really grade the day but Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever are an amazing live act, Saba, would be interesting, and the Grand Ole Oprey thing sounds cool. I'd probably be in and fine with this Thursday if I were going. Friday (Grade: A) - Not sure what else you can really ask for. I'm a rock guy myself, but Gamino and Solange are two of the most interesting/creative people in R&B/hip hop today and undeniable stars. Beach House and Courtney Barnett billed super low, Parquet Courts and Cherry Glazerr great undercard rock acts, combo of heaviness with Gojira and Deafheaven is awesome, and this doesn't even count a Phish set or Avett Bros for like the 12th time. Saturday (Grade: B-) - Billing seems wacky on this day; surprised The National are so low, seeing them in a late night set would be pretty wild so I would root for that. Post Malone and ODESZA seem like stretches for 1/2 and last year's leftover's thus I'm a little harsh on the grade. Musgraves, Lonely Island, Gucci Mane, UMO... fun day overall. Sunday (Grade: C+) - I'll caveat this by saying I'm not really a Phish guy at all so two Phish sets doesn't do much for me. But The Lumineers and Walk the Moon seem like yawns to be billed so high, and don't see a ton of undercard stuff I'd really care for.
I'll go with A- and B those two middle days I've listened to like two hours of live Phish this week and I just don't get it For me I think just going Friday and Saturday and leaving early Sunday will be 90% as much fun as I would have if I did Thursday to Monday with two days less off work at a busy time
I didn't get it either but I stayed for their double set in 2012. Went in trying to figure it out and left blown away and impressed.
Yes. He sold those tickets. And he is going to use that money to buy a ticket this year. Right Lifeiskilingme79
You gonna sell enough tickets? I did a poster run last year. That was enough points for free food and showers.
Our group might be 10. I hear that's enough for parking right? Two four packs and one additional should mean we get three parking spots right?
I believe you have to sell 8 for a free wristband. Should be plenty for a car pass and maybe free food or showers. Ya for every 4 you buy you get a free parking pass as long as you buy them on the same account.
Each ticket sold is 1,500 points. A free wristband costs 12,000 points. Food and showers are 3,000 points each. You get four meals or showers. Car camping pass is 3,000.
If going VIP then definitely do not skip Thursday. Arrive early and your camp will be 100 yards from centeroo. I know GA is typically a crapshoot on where you camp vs when you arrive but VIP goes front to back. Also complementary food and beer Thursday afternoon.
I’m always in accessible camping. It’s right in front of the cuckoo clock and we get to skip the line in. Makes it so easy to go back and forth to camp.
So get this. I have this great idea. You pack some extra beer for me so I will have some close to centeroo if I need it. Make a quick run to your camp, shotgun a few, then back to party. Deal? Deal.
