I may have asked but is there any good BBQ near Arlington, TX? We have a free day Sunday and I may need to eat my feelings after Saturday.
We have a vehicle. I'm clueless as to what drive times would be but we would happily travel a bit for good Q and a beer.
Beer is at Turning Point in Bedford, about 15 minutes north of the stadium. It is by far the best beer option in DFW and specializes in IPAs. I prefer many of theirs over fresh stuff I have had from Trillium, Treehouse, etc. No bbq around there I am aware of but there is a sand which shop (it is a tiny walk-up so don’t miss it) in front. You can take your food into the brewery. Good Cubans and muffulettas. In Ft Worth is Heim Bbq. It is about 20 minutes to the west. Close to their is Collective Brewing (known for sours and they are very sour) and Hop Fusion (makes pretty serviceable beers all around. In Dallas is Pecan Lodge. It is about 25 minutes to the east. Really close to their is Braindead Brewing. They have their own stuff and a big selection of other stuff as well. Take those drive times with a grain of salt as you could easily add an hour to them if their is a wreck or something.
Thanks man. I'm going with my dad and he is a Miller light dude so the good beer is likely out. He gets pissed at us weirdos who like that stuff. A good Cuban does sound really good. Thinking Heim may be the play on Sunday.
If you are a beer guy it might be worth swing by Turning Point to pick up some cans for tailgating. It is only about 15 minutes for DFW airport. You can pick up your dad’s beer at any gas station you drive by in route.
We're driving down so that's a great idea. We're in Lot 14 so we hope to set up at least a minimal tailgate. Cowboy Stadium rules are weird.
Was given a Ninja Foodi (https://www.ninjakitchen.com/tendercrisp-foodi-technology/) for Christmas. Anyone know about these or how long I would need to put wings in it to crisp them up instead of a normal fryer?
I was just told that Lockhart BBQ has opened up in the Texas Live stuff next to the Ballpark in Arlington If this is true, I recommend you go there NilesIrish #Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Ohh, but do that on non gameday if you can. You dont wanna be dropping off into a meat coma while watching your game
Went yesterday. It was good but Obviously was not the "real" deal. Still better than anything I can get at home. Going to Heims tomorrow.
That would be correct. It's a fun bar with good BBQ, If I want great BBQ I want a dirty place that smells like the windows have never been opened.
First of all it’s Heim and not Heims Second of all it’s delish But if you’re wanting the uncleaned windows and taxidermy overload, I recommend Angelos
Starting early for a New Years celebration but here's the tittie's family New Years brisket: 18 lbs prime brisket smoked for 20 hours:
So one of the heat deflectors for my Kamado Joe broke in half. I've got another one on the way. In the meantime would I be ok wrapping it in foil to hold it together?
I'd never heard of Kalbi ribs before my stop at a new butcher shop in town today. I'm now a fan of Kalbi ribs.
I know that now. The marinade is what made them delicious. Big fan. I found it interesting that they cut beef ribs the opposite way from us, turning them into almost like beef bacon slices. 2 minutes on each side at 600 and it was perfect.
Mexico does the same thing, and their red fajita marinade is better, imo Gotta go to a Mexican meat market and ask for marinated costillas or tablitas
Yeah. I had 2 needing done for lunch and 2 for dinner. Had the first 2 in the offset until the next 2 needed to start so I finished the first 2 in the Primo.
