Puig being our best player all playoffs long is crazy. But something I’ve always wanted. I want him locked up long term.
Didn't know Kershaw would be making his decision within the next 72 hours. Pretty crazy. Not ready to see him in another uniform
Not sure my body can handle Kershaw in the playoffs anymore but that is a good deal so #yolo as the youths say
Hopefully he gets healthy and gains a little velocity back. Otherwise, I like the future staff of him, Buehler, Urias, and whatever young guy steps up or free agent asset we acquire. I want to see LAD get a title with Kershaw on the staff in some capacity. Let's make it happen.
I don’t really care about Kemp or Wood, but gonna miss Puig. Hope this deal sets something up to acquire Kluber.
Puig was the best and I always hated the drama that unnecessarily followed him. He really grew as a leader and player over the years. I’ll dream that they bring him back next year until he signs with Miami or wherever.
that said, he did only have one year left and the Dodgers have to go big with this window they have and 3 more years of Kershaw
Im about to turn 32 or so I think? I am dying. I was thinking of my favorite players growing up and most of them weren't Dodgers (Ken Griffey, Greg Maddux, Chipper Jones. WGN and TBS were clutch back in the day) The Dodgers have had a tradition most of my life with most of their players being enigmatic, boring or assholes (or all of the above with Kevin Brown). Piazza (traded in his prime and went into the hall as a Met), Mondesi (Fun times but never endearing), Karros (boring), Adrian Beltre (watched him develop to see him leave once he realized his potential) Gary Sheffield (didnt give a shit, waiting for next contract), Shawn Green (boring), Eric Gagne (raised a true dumpster fire to mediocrity but cheated to do it), Jeff Kent (A Giant that literally called Vin Scully an idiot), Manny Ramirez (that one month was fun). So all those guys being mentioned made me realize when we traded Puig that he is one of my three favorite Dodgers (One in the top 3 I didn't mention was Nomo. That was a lot of fun. Please link me some article that destroys my childhood image of him so I can bump him off my list and feel sad) Puig at points was enigmatic and also an asshole; criteria that I judged other Dodgers for being but he was an enigmatic asshole I liked. I think Kershaw is the face of the Dodgers but I always felt Puig was one of the main parts of the soul, especially cuz Turner can not have a soul cuz he is ginger. I want this main group to win a ring but if they do (they won't) it won't feel the same without Puig. I hope this makes sense, I have had 2 Zimas and am fucked
enjoying the new trend of bringing back familiar faces each offseason now Takashi Saito coming out of the bullpen in 2020 will be fun
Keeping the fan base happy without spending much. Tippin’ my cap to management. Make that paper, you earned it!
I'm gonna be pissed if we don't land Kluber. We need another ace on the staff. Cannot let ourselves get outbid by fucking San Diego
that'd be pretty fucked unless they plan on just waiting for the trade deadline again because the NL is weak. Even still, don't like this trend of them cheaping out.
They ain't the Rays. They can afford it if a contract goes bad. Carl Crawford's contract didn't stop them from signing Zack Grienke back when the team cared about winning.
I'm not asking them to sign Harper to some dumb 10 year deal. But the team needs improvements and there are a few people out there for the taking.
if you're gonna make a move like they did with the Cincy trade, it better come with a follow up move that helps the team. Doing it just to save the owners some money is a slap in the face to the fans, especially when you know tickets and parking are gonna be more each season.
Swiss army knife type guys like Taylor and Kike are great to have over the course of a 162 game season when you need depth and can beat up on bad teams with platoon heavy lineups, but ultimately October is still star driven across the board. The last 3 WS champs were way more top-heavy star wise than the current Dodgers are.
Staying under the luxury tax until the new bargaining agreement in 2022 is gonna be so sweet when Kershaw is 35 and on the Yankees and we haven’t won a WS
if my math is correct the Red Sox will be paying Pablo Sandoval and Rusney Castillo a combined $34 million or so this season and I have a feeling they'll be fielding a decent team in spite of that. I have a feeling the Dodgers would be the same even if Harper didn't work out for all 10 or so years.
https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2019/...dgers-slow-offseason-yasiel-puig-bryce-harper L.A.’s decision to trade Yasiel Puig didn’t make sense, and nothing the team has done since has, either. It’s not too late to sign Bryce Harper, trade for Corey Kluber, and fix this strangeness, but at the moment, the Dodgers seem content not to improve.
With talks of this trade, Marte rumors, and Joc being shopped, maybe there is plenty to come. Although, we might not love the results.
weirdest story of the spring. Toles has just been MIA for a month + Hope everything is all good, but it seems like he has thrown away the first half of this season
