I can really only talk about offline but 2k is way ahead. I own both and never play Live.

 

I dont care about myplayer or online anything and am never disappointed in 2k. Also it has the most funcional online career mode outside of madden.

 

Anyone have a suggestion for a good couple game? Gf wants to start playing something fun like Mario-esque. Are any of the LEGO games good?

 

I could see a girl liking the Spyro games. I don't think they're multiplayer though

Persona fans in here? I played a lot of P4: Golden on Vita but was lost the entire time. People love P5. Why don’t I get them?

 

P5 was really good , great series

 

There's definitely a learning curve to the Persona games but it's well worth it. Playing Persona 3 Portable, P4G, and P5 have been some of my best gaming experiences.

 

I was getting an error message on my PS4 that was causing my controller not to charge while hooked up to the USB. Did a data clean on my PS4 that fixed it and in addition my PS4 is running much smoother. I recommend doing it if you haven’t already and probably make it something you do regularly

Yeah that’s the fix. Power all the way down, then power back up from the console button holding it down till you hear a second beep. It’ll start the PS4 up in safe mode and give you a menu list. Go to “rebuild database” and click it and let it work. It took mine about 5 minutes to finish. After that restart the console ad he’s good. Also during the process he has to have his controller hooked into the console with a USB

 

finally started playing horizon zero dawn

 

Played a ton of Salt and Sanctuary on Vita on my recent travels, love that game but it makes me want to throw the thing across the room sometimes.
Tried to play PsOne Classic Soul Reaver but the camera was all jacked up, kept spinning around and couldn't play like that.
Still looking forward to playing that one on PS3.

 

I fuckin love SnS. If you wanna make it a bit easier start a great sword build

 

A little awkward combat for me at first, for some reason. But now in the groove and pretty addicting. Still in beginning stages of game. Like skyrim mixed with the new tomb raider games. Looking forward to the rest

 

Funny, I did the same this weekend; downloaded it along with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

My backlog is pretty extensive.

 

Play Hellblade first I've heard it is pretty short. HZD to platinum it took 60 plus hours on hard

 

Me too. I have an unplayed copy of witcher 3 sitting here too...

 

Oh, well that needs to change ASAP.

Though it may ruin other games for you for a while.

 

Take it from a previous witcher 3 hater... It's the best game of this console generation. (I don't have a switch so can't compare to breath of the wild)

I bought it the day it came out and played like 2 missions didn't get into the story and felt it was overwhelming and moved on to Arkham Knight. Picked it up a year later realized I wasn't an idiot and put close to 200 hours into it including all the DLC. I even got the damn stand alone gwent game and put like 20 hours into that.

So if the options are should I play witcher 3 or ...? The answer is always witcher 3.

 

Anyone play the RE2 demo yet?

 

BoTW is the only game I’ve played since the Witcher 3 that I would consider its equal.

 

If shenmue would have continued it would have fallen off before it was even as good as Yakuza

Much easier undertaking for me so I have to agree. God of War beat my ass into the ground but it didn’t take 100 hours so it’s at the apex of gaming for me right now.

 

Binged Detroit BH this weekend. I know some of you guys hate David Cage’s games but this shits all over Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain.

I may turn around and play it through again. I may make my wife play it instead because I’m so interested in the choices she’d make. That is, if I can peel her ass away from Hollow Knight. She is obsessed.

All of you should play Hollow Knight, for what it’s worth. It is difficult, has a shit ton of depth, and oozes charm.

Btw I’m not tryna downplay TW3 here, the game should be at worst on everyone’s top 5. I just think if I’ve made myself clear on my interests in video games over the years in these threads of ours, tactical combat, for me, is top of the list. GOW was a load of fun for me due to that.

Witcher is phenomenal story-wise and has some of the better side quests ever, but the combat really takes away a lot of the enjoyment for me.

What’s wrong with W3’s combat? Thought it was pretty nuanced.

 

I think on the higher difficulties it starts to become a system that requires thought and tactics. I like the combat at that point but I still don’t love it. Regardless of the nuance involved, it’s still a bit clunky

 

Gameplay for me is important but the narrative is what defines the game imo. Witcher 3 has the best narrative and world of any of the games listed on this page.

The best game of the last generation for me was easily the last of us and it wasn't because of it's gameplay.

 

The Last of Us is probably my favorite game ever and if it isn’t then it’s gonna be Bioshock or Infinite. I value narrative as well and it’s why I prefer those games over games I enjoy to play more (Bloodborne). That being said, GOW probably does the best job (for me) of just about any game I’ve ever played at hitting the buttons wrt narrative and providing the type of gameplay I enjoy. It doesn’t do narrative as good as TLOU, it doesn’t satisfy my gameplay desires as much as soulsborne, but, it does the job on both ends at an elite level and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I still adore TW3, it’s just GOW gets me. I ain’t mad at nobody preferring TW3 more

I have a copy of that waiting to be played too. Spiderman too. Slacking big time. I have an embarrassing amount of games I haven't played yet.

 

It's super easy, and way too simple. Even on harder difficulties. Quen, dodge, attack, dodge, attack. Mix in whatever other signs/poisons/potions you want, but nothing ever really changes. The enemies attacks never really force you to change much, or try new things. You can parry if you want, but it's never really forced on you. If you asked me to only name one thing, though, it would be the movement. Movement while in combat isn't really tight. Too loose, but still somehow found a way to feel heavy/tanky. That's the big thing that set GOW, Souls/Nioh, and Horizon apart to me. My movements and attacks with those games felt weighty but not clunky...and extremely precise.

 

I will say I've been loving Horizon's combat and the versatility of approaches to attacking.

 

Yep, that's one of my favorite parts of HZD.
Also, me saying that about TW3 doesn't mean it's not a great game. Nor does it mean I think the combat makes it unplayable. Just when it's stacked up against the heavyweights of this gen, the combat doesn't really compare imo
