WWE can sustain the loss with millions coming in from merchandise and the Network. They also bring in a shit ton of money from international TV deals and thats not including the billion dollar deal in the US that will kick in. Curious if AEW will work with pro-wrestling Ts to figure out a merchandise deal for its talent.
This is the biggest reason i'm for AEW even when on a personal level I would kill for Kenny vs the WWE roster on the big stage.
WCW is a bad example to use when it comes to TV. Turner fucked them over when it came to TV revenue and such. I belive TNT/TBS or wherever they go will fully cover production cost. The question is can the weekly TV gate + PPV gate/buy rate + Merch cover the loss Tony will have from roster cost. And how long will he take a loss before this cool idea is tossed to the side.
Do any of you guys listen to Sunday Night’s Main Event? This is probably the only place on the planet where I can brag about being in the big Title Belt Trivia Tournament. Destroyed my first round opponent in Hardy trivia, missed the question about Jeff’s bands name. I guessed Dickweed (was thinking of Itchiweed). The tournament runs all the way to Mania week, and the finals will be on that nights show. The prize package is lame, but it’s still fun to be on there.
I was just saying until an announcement is made on a TV deal, who knows what kind of deal it will be. Will it be a full production covering deal, or a share of ad revenue with AEW producing? I know Khan has connections but I have a hard time believing a legit station is just going to come in and say we will cover all expenses after watching promotion after promotion not named WWE fail miserably in the ratings.
90 day no compete clause. Double or Nothing is May 25th. I could see Vince releasing them February 26th.
Punk - I wouldn’t count this out. He wants two things: big money and to fuck over the WWE. AEW can provide both of these things. Nakamura: God this would be huge. Have to imagine he’s unhappy right now. Styles: I also doubt this. He’s probably looking for one huge contract with the WWE for 3 more years and then retiring. Heyman: has flirted with TNA in the past. If AEW gave him money + the book, I wouldn’t be surprised. Probably the biggest move they could make, honestly. Cole: rumor that a main event guy from NXT is interested. They signed his girlfriend. Not out of the realm of possibility. They even dropped his name on this week’s BTE. Pentagon/Fenix: huge for international TV deals. Eli Drake: one of the best talkers in the industry. Not connected to the BTE guys at all. They need more guys like that signing with AEW, otherwise it feels like a bunch of buddies fighting each other. He’d be on my radar for sure if I was running things. Balor/Gallows/Anderson: I could easily see this happening.
I don't think it can be emphasized enough that AEW is being financed by a billionaire that grew up sending house show reports to Dave Metzler. This not just a billionaire taking on a new project, but a hardcore wrestling mark with an endless amount of money. He isn't going to want to lose money forever, but I guarantee somebody like him is going to have a higher budget/risk tolerance than a normal investor. Christ, the guy hired mookieghana from Wrestlenomics (a pretty obscure wrestling podcast/blog) as one his first guys for AEW. The guy is in the 99% percentile of hardcore wrestling fans. This is our best shot at another WCW level company in our lifetimes. I don't understand how people can't be excited about the possibility. Competition, even if only perceived right now, brings the best out of Vince.
Heard a Punk interview the other day that they never formally offered. It was a text. He’s a weird dude, he wants to be wined and dined and feel wanted. He obviously has some Daddy issues, but fuck it, wine him, dine him, and make him feel wanted.
I think Balor is happy as a pig in shit honestly. He seems to love the travel more than anything and WWE gives that to him.
I assume they are because if not, why does WWE keep killing their talent with such a grueling schedule?
So if AEW could get Revival, Good Brothers, Red Dragon, Cole, Fenix, Penta to go with Kenny, Cody, Bucks, Skrull....ok now you have my attention. Still need to build on that with guys like Ibushi, Pac, maybe some of the 205 live guys that are second class citizens.
I would be shocked to see any member of the UE leave WWE. Those guys are being groomed to be studs on the next level. Fenix and Penta are the big fish left on the open market right now. Skrull and Ibushi are 100% going to AEW.
I bet if he asked out they'd let him like they let Neville. Then again maybe not with AEW now existing
When is Ciampa's contract up. Him and Gargano both feel like guys that get promoted and then Vince just takes a huge shit on them.
Didn't they make Neville sit out for like 6 months before agreeing to release him? He disappeared for a long ass time.
I hope AEW makes it, then hopefully it'll cut down on the posts about how WWE is misusing this wrestler and about how Raw sucks. In all seriousness I want AEW to make it to give WWE viable competition which will make both companies better and especially for fans of wrestling.
I want AEW to succeed. I want there to be competition to Vince but the thing to me is we’ve heard all this before. TNA was supposed to challenge WWE when it started. ROH was supposed to challenge when they got TV deals. NJPW was supposed to challenge when they got working agreements with stateside promotions. I want AEW to be a huge success but the track record of new or smaller promotion getting over that hump has not been good
I want AEW to make sure our Rumble lotto is filled. By Monday if we are not filled I’ll open it up for multiple men entry and also anyone not TMB can get in. #WWE
Thanks for the invite. I went ahead and sent the money via paypal. Either Bankz got it, or I just made some stranger's day.
