Guess I miscalculated on FIFA and UEFA splitting the sheets on awards. Modric clearly was never driving the Madrid success bus. The FIFA award was well deserved. The b’allon? Ehhhhhh
Which never made any sense in the first place given the results the last 12 years... Luka such a class act that he actually dedicated his award to Xavi, Iniesta & Sneijder despite being the face of their generation. Magnanimous AF.
Best build up of the season. Benzema and Vinicius have been excellent and Asensio looks dangerous. Should have at least 1
I don’t even know if it matters. If the team doesn’t show immense improvement it will be an early exit.
Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever given, well everything, that's taken place over the last 6 years.
Anything going to happen during this winter window? The last month outside the Club World Cup I have been behind on everything with the club.
Appears they'll be signing Brahim Diaz from City for around €15M. He's another Spanish youngster with a lot of yet untapped potential. There were also a lot of rumors that Keylor was going to be sold to Arsenal but it was just announced earlier today that his contract had been extended by a year so who knows. Could be just to help increase his resale value but who knows. If he is sold I'd expect the club to recall Lunin from Leganes since he's not playing there anyway. Other than those I'd be surprise if anything noteworthy happened before the summer window.
I feel like this has been said every season for like the last 5 or 6 years but you're right, this feels different is definitely a transition year.
No lineup surprises with Casemiro back healthy and Llorente injured. Villarreal has been horrible all season it's inevitable that today will be the beginning of a great turn around
New year, same shit defending. Just move Marcelo to the midfield already and be done with it. Dude is far too much of a liability defensively
Also Diaz formally introduced today and in case this season hasn't been a big enough dumpster fire already you can add Kroos to the growing injury list.
Benzema and Vallejo hurt (again) bringing the horrifying nightmare of an all Castilla first team that much closer to reality.
That's super odd that Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric isn't able to do much of anything to make a Ronaldo-less Madrid any good.
Not his fault he somehow won a club award he had no business winning. Take Modric out Madrid and leave Ronaldo there, and your team isnt where it’s currently at. Take Modric out of Croatia and that team is as basic as it gets. But bless his heart, because he was acutely aware of all of this in his acceptance speech.
Navas is hurt now too. Kiko is now in England and Lunin out on loan which means if Courtois can't come back tomorrow it'll be 5th choice Luca Zidane in goal against Sevilla
Jesus Christ The defending on the first goal was staggeringly bad, even for this team. Nice response to control the rest of the half but with the way they play on the road they need a couple more in the 2nd to put this away.
