Just cleared 150 for the month of December. Aiming to push close to 200 before the end. Have never cleared 200 in a month myself either. Still feeling pretty good. Hit a couple days last week where I was feeling some pain/soreness behind my right knee but some stretching and ice at nights seemed to alleviate everything
I haven't been able to run in over a month. This sucks. I just went back a gave kudos to all the TMB runs in December.
Any treadmill recommendations? Around $1500 or so. Mainly been looking at the Sole F80 and the NordicTrack Comm 1750. TIA
The peloton thread is amazing. Ran on them a couple times and it is the most forgiving thread/surface I’ve ever ran on.
Free gym membership at work for treadmill Run outside otherwise Never purchased a treadmill At the gym I like the Woodway brand
I somehow will manage to run about 115-120 miles this month. Not on some of you guys’ level but I am shocked.
Is the NordicTrack Z 1300i Treadmill any good? Usually $1300 but on sale for $800 at Costco starting Wednesday 1/2/19. https://www.costco.com/CatalogSearch?dept=All&keyword=treadmill
Hit 200 miles for the month this morning. Didn’t set out to do that, but once I started calculating how many more miles to go over the last 4 or 5 days I was dead set on hitting it since I was so close. 178 of those miles in the last 3 weeks of the month. Uncharted territory for me personally. Probably will scale back January to 150-160 with a race looming in early Feb
It was fairly committed for sure. I was pretty much running 6 days per week. I began to break up M-F into two runs per day - one in the morning before work and then one at lunch or after work. Made things so much easier when you can chunk it down. But the downside is the commitment to twice per day. Then I’d do one longer one over the weekend. Added in with all this I’ve been at the gym lifting for 3-4 days a week. Since Dec 8 I haven’t taken one day off. It’s either been run, gym, hike, or gym and run in same day. Last three days I’ve done: 7.25, 15.5, 9.5 Had a gym day before that Previous six days before that: 12, 8, 10, 10, 3.25, 16 Going down to 40 miles/wk or so for January should allow me to cut down to just one run per day during the week and then whatever I feel like mustering up on Sat or Sun I know I’m training harder than I need to for this 6 hour ultra in Feb and then 50k coming up in Apr but I really want to shatter the bar I’ve set in my head.
Trying to get into running more this year. All my shoes are terrible. Any recs on some cheaper decent shoes? I have decently wide feet if that matters wrt to brand or whatever.
Plan to spend about $100 and you can get some pretty decent ones. New Balance has some good options in that range.
Go to a local running store and get fitted for a pair. If you don't like what they have, come back to us with what they recommended and we'll find you similar ones for cheaper.
so I bought some Nike EXP X 14s for running. I wore them around the house Monday and Tuesday evening and they felt great. I ran in them for the first time last night and they made my toes feel asleep and the balls of my feet burn. Does that mean they are too small? I have athletes foot? Or any ideas?
If your toes are falling asleep, they're too small. Those have some really bad reviews out there for running. More of a lifestyle shoe with running features rather than being a running shoe. If you haven't yet, go get fitted at a local running store. Ask them to watch you run and try out several pairs before committing to one.
My girlfriend and I set a goal to run 1,000 miles together this year. I was an all-district XC runner in high school but she had never run more than a few miles before we started in September of last year. We got our first 9 mile run in yesterday, very proud boyfriend right now.
I’ve got an awful knot on the inside of the arch of my left foot. Anything I need to do other than massage and ice a lot?
1st run since my disastrous 10k and second run since my half. Down 16 pounds since I’ve started keto and I can’t believe I ran a half at 200. It’s just too much weight to carry if I want to run consistently. I was thinking I’d be happy at the 175 but can’t imagine how great 170 would feel but I am afraid I’ll look too skinny at that weight. Running today reminded me why I love running.

What am I looking at? I so want to run more but with a heavy lifting regimen, fucking hard to get many miles in. Doing a lot of curve treadmill and sprints but nothing long distance, speed is way up but can't test myself on anything long.
It's just a 5K in Atlanta but then tickets to the Braves game next day. I'll do something in DC with you though. My gym just got 2 Trueform Treadmills. they suck
I don’t think that’s it — I’m running with my girlfriend 80% of the time so we’re running ~10 min miles. I would normally be running 7:30-45/mi at this distance (6-8 mi per run)
Yea my full at 195 was a mistake. I’m gonna try to hover around 180 going forward and run more shorter distances.
Finally getting my follow up appointment tomorrow with the doctor to go over x-rays on my foot and such. Been taking an anti-inflammatory medication and keeping off of it... except for soccer the last two Tuesdays. Couldn't help that. I hope to get some kind of clearance to get back out there.
Did my first obstacle course run since my back surgery last year. Tactical Titan outside of Tampa. A little over 3 miles. Surprised myself by doing some obstacles I wasn’t able to do in the past. Took it easy on this one as I didn’t want to hurt my back plus my wife did it with me so I stayed with her.
Going to attempt to go for 4 or 5 hours tomorrow. Coming off the heels of a big ski day lol. Let’s see how this goes. Ultra is in two weeks so I really want to try and get to about 80% and then begin to taper off going into this week. Time to download a couple long form podcasts to pass the time tomorrow...
The weather has taken a turn for the worse this month in Ohio which has me running on the treadmill the last few weeks. I think I’m going to do most of my speed work on the treadmill from here out. I can run hard for 30 mins and my feet and legs feel great when I’m done.
I’ve been doing my speed work on a treadmill too. I like being able to control the pace. I wish I had access to a track though.
Saw a guy at the gym this week about my height but easily had 40-50 pounds on me, ran around a 23 minute 3 miles. Dude must have had some strong ass legs or crazy lungs. He looked like me when I couldn't run a tenth of a mile without being winded, props to him.
