Lifex bulb experts, I have a question
Have a lifex bulb on the front porch & back before Christmas I saw under "themes" one that was called "festive"
I clicked it and the bulb started coming on green every evening on my time set
Well, I cant get it to fucking stop
Cant find any setting to remove theme, tried clicking on a different theme (it will change that day, but back to green the next day)
I even uninstalled the fucking bulb and when I reinstalled, the next day I come home to a green porch

    Any ideas?

Lifx pushed out its new AI firmware update and your bulb overlord now knows you enjoy a good mainboard troll

Did you reset the bulb when you said uninstall? I think you flip the switch 5 times or something.

Did not know about the flipping the switch thing.
Did this last last night, now it's a waiting game until this evening

If you did it and then go in to the app you can add the bulb again like it’s brand new. I only know because when we have it dimmed and my wife uses the switch. If they aren’t as bright as she wants instead of using the app she does this. I’ve had to re-add the bulbs multiple times.

Are you sure you don't have a schedule set up to do this? Other then that do a reset(the flipping the switch several times thing) and re add the bulb. It should flash 3 colors when it resets. That takes it back to straight out of the box factory settings. If that doesn't work just contact Lifx, they will just send you a new bulb.

Do you have a Google home or Alexa? Then she could just ask them to turn up the brightness. Otherwise I'd be doing what bigred77 suggested and just remove that switch from the wall. My wife knows she would be waking up to a blank wall plate if she made me re setup a light over and over.

I have been holding out on the home automation. We only have the 2 Lifx lights at the moment. No Alexa or Google Home yet.

Anyone replaced their wooden stair balusters with wrought iron? I'm pretty confident I can do it without issue, just looking for any tips.

We had wrought iron installed when we remodeled our basement (primarily for functionality so it could be removed to move furniture in/out). I didn't install it but it looks pretty easy. It is just bolted to the floor.

Just discovered a leak in our old cast iron drain line that runs underneath our basement slab. Can't wait to get that estimate :killme:

Maybe I'll just rent a concrete saw and learn on the fly

I am guessing 8k if they patch a section and 22k if they have to replace whole thing.

I have no experience in such things, just a guess.

Do you know if the leak is under the house or outside? Is the basement finished?

I've replaced the cast iron drain that was in our house as part of a larger project so I don't have a specific line item price for that but I would think it should be under $10k based on the pricing of my overall project. I've also had somebody put an epoxy in the main drain line from where it leaves the house to the street and it cost about $6k. That process essentially re-lines the old cast iron pipe with a new pipe inside of it. It is better than having to dig trenches and replace it.

It’s under the house and yes it is finished. Plumbers are coming back tomorrow to snake the line. Hopefully it’s just clogged and causing water to come out of a small hole in the line but at the very least they’ll be able to tell if the pipe is collapsed at the point of the leak or not.

Climbing a 30 ft ladder that's leaned against a palm tree isn't something I want to do. I paid a guy today $100 to 'hurricane proof' 6 of my palms. He pretty much ran up an unsturdy ladder carrying a chain saw. All I could think about was the insurance claim if he fell.

Eh, assuming it was your regular aluminum extension ladder those things are more than strong enough. And believe it or not, chainsaws are safer than guns (I started using both at about 4).

I'm more scared about falling off and/or getting back down. The palm tree is about a foot wide so you're not resting the ladder against much.

Actually called a company this morning that specializes in cutting concrete. Cost to cut and re-pour about 60 sq. ft. was only $800 - a lot better than I expected. Can't imagine the actual plumbing aspect of that would cost much more.

By some miracle snaking the line actually worked and stopped the leak. Have to keep an eye on it obviously but hopefully it's just a pinhole that started leaking once the line backed up. Crisis avoided for now.

I should be posting in the BBQ thread on this unusual, mid 60 degree, sunny weather but here I fucking am.

The kitchen faucet hose was leaking, took apart the nozzle/sprayer and turned the water on to find that it’s the built in fitting on the hose. Go to HD and grab a universal hose with all kinds of fittings but the universal ends don’t fit through the the internal guide for the main hose.

Not sure how I missed this. Sorry.

Definitely sounds like you inadvertently set a program within the app. As was mentioned, turning the lights on/off 5 times fast will reset the bulb. And as others mentioned if you are still having problems just call the company and they will send a new bulb usually. The themes are legit though. I'm pretty sure using the Xmas theme in the house allowed me to win the RRR Holi-decor 1st place prize.

Have you started using IFTTT yet for your lifx bulbs?

Can't tell you how amazing I feel when A&M scores and my whole house starts flashing maroon.

One of my new years resolutions is to install the IFTTT domino's pizza/rachio set where it will automatically turn off your sprinklers when your delivery guy is within 10/15 minutes of your house.

So, have a cabinet door that has pulled out the top screw holding it to the cabinet. Take all the screws out and take the door down and it’s being held up with these tiny ass screws. Like maybe 1/2”. I think we can fix it by just using larger screws, wife thinks we need to use wood filler. What say y’all? (Pictures forthcoming)
