Been breaking some 2018 Topps Update baseball lately. Great value and the Rookie class is loaded (Acuna, Soto, Ohtani, Hoskins, Albies, etc.). Just pulled this #46/50
Blowout Cards and Dave & Adam's Card World are two of the more popular sites to buy boxes from. eBay is always good too.
Pulled a bunch of numbereds lately but of the numbereds the best is probably an /50 Topps Gold Label Trout. Also pulled an Ottavino Auto RC. Buncha Judge RCs too.
I ordered a couple 2019 baseball boxes. Bought ones based on the earliest release date because I'm impatient. Been a loooong time since I opened packs of cards.
I've definitely been looking, almost bought a Korth. Still looking for a Pardini GT9. Hard to find anything decent.
Bought a couple of those $5 Fairfield "jumbo box" sets at Target, and pulled a Scottie Pippen jersey relic card, Kenyon Martin Jersey relic /250, a moe harkless auto, sarunas jasikevicious auto /190 (don't be jealous), and a few nice looking inserts. Not bad for those cheapie things
Couple nice pulls from a 2018 Topps Update Hobby Box earlier. Willy Adames Clear Acetate #4/10. Jack Flaherty '83 Auto RC
my parents still have unwrapped complete sets from pretty much every major brand from '87-91. Pretty sure they though they were going to put me through college with those
Just hit this Ohtani SSP from 2018 Topps Update. Worth between $50-75. But naturally it has two soft corners so it looks like a PSA 8 unfortunately. I'll still probably get it graded though.
Pulled a Victor Oladipo green pulsar /25 from a prizm blaster. What do those babies go for? Also bought two 2019 topps boxes at Target and got a Trout in both, and a Juan Soto. I guess that's not worth much if it's just a base card
Anyone ever bought those autographed hat blind boxes or the bat ones? Wondering if the hits are any good?
A couple of the Mojo /25 Dipo Prizm's have sold for $7-10. One green pulsar /25 has sold for $6.50 (fixed price). The numbered Prizm rookies are crazy valuable but for some reason the numbered prizm's of the veterans aren't as valuable unless it's LeBron, Curry, Durant, Harden, Giannis, etc. Yes, you're right. While they are cool cards, they aren't worth a ton unless it's an SP (Short Print) or numbered.
When TriStar first started doing that with auto'd baseballs probably 15 to 16 years ago I bought 2 of them at like $50 a pop. First one had Angel Berroa, second one Bobby Shantz. I promptly said "fuck this" and never bought another.
I probably sound like a broken record about getting your cards graded (if they're in good shape) but they can add so much value. For example, this week I sold this Lindor for $25. It sells for $2-3 ungraded. Same can be said about a 2012 Bryce Harper Bowman Chrome. Last week I sold it for $35 and it's worth about $3-4 ungraded.
What's the process to getting graded? Most of my stuff is for my personal hobby, but for my higher value cards I want to get graded, for future use. I'm getting a Mahomes rookie triple jersey relic that is 5/5 #'d. I want to get it graded and put in a safety deposit box haha
https://www.psacard.com/fees/ PSA's website has a rundown of options and services. That Mahomes would fall under a Regular submission. $20, 25 day turnaround. Make sure to protect it well and mark on the outside of the package "25 Day Service". You just have to submit your order on their site and they'll send you a shipping label to print and put on the package.
Only in a bulk order (cards have to valued under or around $100 to be in a bulk order). 50-99 cards is $10 per card and over 100 cards is $8 per card. But it looks like you have to be in their collectors club to submit bulk orders now. My brother belongs so I've always just sent in under his name. I'm not sure what it costs or what you have to do in order to be in the club.
Fairly uneventful half box in. Rickey Henderson game used bat has been the best. Doubt there's any value in Othani or whatever his name is prism cards. Got some Wade Boggs thing, retardedly thick card. Love getting older player stuff, would kill for something Strawberry related. The dog swears I'm eating with all this wrapper crinkling.
Not a bad finish, Freddie Freeman game used something cloth, super thick George Springer hat logo patch, Cesar Hernandez autograph and an autograph of someone named Colin Moran. Edit to add: I'm putting them away and I just noticed a Justus Sheffield (now a Mariner) card, took a look at the back and it's #67/67. Now I gotta go through all these fucking things again because I wasn't aware some of the standard cards are numbered like that.
Colin Moran - if he ever puts his shit together - has a swing built for PNC Park. Hang onto it for a year or two. If he doesnt pan out, I'll trade you 100 rounds of cheap 9mm. Ill add him to my collection of 90's and 00's Pirates that never did anything.
What product did you open? Your hits so far are actually pretty solid. There is a ton of value in Ohtani. Not as much as the first part of the season last year but he's got very good hobby. Are any of those cards numbered?

Topps stuff, I don't collect anymore so I don't know what the difference is between this series and the 100 other things they release each year. They sucked me in by having subset cards that look like the 1984 Topps and old players in it. Plenty of numbered stuff in the packs, but it ranges from <100 to >1,000
went back to my parents house today and picked up a few of the highlights from my childhood collection. no idea of their value but assume I should get them graded. they are: 2002 Topps Archives Autoproof Kirby Puckett Buyback 2002 Fleer Greats Nolan Ryan 2002 Bowmans Best Joe Mauer RC
Is the Nolan Ryan numbered? I can only find 1 that has sold on eBay in the past year and it was /150 for $88 in auction. Can't find any sales of that exact Puckett. Found 1 sale of the 2002 Puckett Archives Auto but it wasn't numbered (on card) and had an Archives stamp on the front and was said to have a print run of 50 or less. Sold for $325 (fixed price) though. The Mauer is $30-50 ungraded.
The Ryan isn't numbered on card but I think the print run was to 150. Yeah I saw that Puckett when I was trying to figure out the value - mine is an actual card from 1988 that Topps bought, had Kirby sign, then re-inserted into packs. It has a tiny holographic sticker on the back to show authenticity. Probably the coolest pull I ever had. Thanks for the info!
