Lewis production for club and country per minute is ridiculously good. I just pray NYCFC starts him this season. Happy for Lletget.
Had a feeling Arriola would look good in this system. Didn’t predict him being stuck on the left for most of the match though. Won’t be a starter but a solid depth piece.
That injury was such a punch to the nuts for him. IIRC, that night was her movie debut, then he scored his first goal with the national team, then his foot explodes.
Having watched again, this is grossly downplaying the pass. Lewis didn’t have to bring it down out of the air, it was put in a place that made it an easy touch.
Since I had been bumping old posts in the transfer threads a while back thought I’d call myself out for this post that didn’t age well
That first touch hnnnnng Noticed that too. If you go on twitter and type in "weah" there's tweets with like hundreds of responses by Celtic fans. Thought this one was funny.
What should be the takeaway from these two games? Nothing really, solid wins, or a lot better than expected?
The results? Probably nothing. Panama B and ticos C are teams that we should be easily beating with our B teams. However, the good things to take away: -The team actually looks to be working towards an identity. Breaking lines with diagonal passes and working the ball into the box by overloading one wing was such a nice change from the incredibly milquetoast brand of soccer we had seen the last year and a half. (As was the more creative, 3 in the back with a high FB that should help us better play out of the back with the ball) -Solid defensive play. We were probably simpler than we'll eventually be in the first camp, but there were minimal blown assignments by the back line, which led to neither opponent really getting many scoring chances in 2 games. (Steffen was really only called upon to make a big save once in 2 games) -The general improvement from game to game and half to half. The bigger litmus test will be in March when we have our top guys and play better opponents.
Hardly. He’s likable, but not very good, which leads people to give him way more credit for just hoofing it into the corner than he should get.
I don’t give 2 shits about Trapp, that was a great pass no matter whose foot it came off of. He didn’t “hoof it to the corner”. He chested it down and made a great pass.
They just spent $9.1 million on this guy and it sounds like Lewis will be odd man out in the line up. Will probably play the super sub role unfortunately.
