I have no idea about any of his friends or their history, but the coach said he never really had any issues with Hunt in college. I don't remember exactly how he said it, but he said there are players that you know you are getting a call at 3am and you have to go bail them out or something, but Hunt was never one of those guys. I'd also like to not cause major issues with our other RBs feeling disrespected. What role woudl Hunt fill? Would we move Duke if we brought in Hunt, and use him in that role?? a 3-deep rotation of Chub, Hunt, and Duke sounds nice, but it seems like a lot of.....cooks in the kitchen. (get it?)
Right, which means he’s on their website anyway. I’m just curious because that is the complete antithesis of what I’ve heard.
I dunno. he could have been just blowing smoke. we are not like good friends or anything, our kids play sports together. You heard he got into some trouble in college?
A little bit of everything. I’m not going actually cut myself off, though. Because similarly, what I heard might not be true.
Hunt would be a massive unneeded distraction for a team trying to make the playoffs for the first time in a decade. You have Chubb and Duke, supplement them with a late round prospect or UDFA.
Tretter is ranked as the #8 C in the NFL last year. I know that's not the whole story, but that seems like an area that we don't need a big upgrade to. fucking hell, out O Line is pretty good according to PFF. It looks like the inside of our line is good to go, why the hell would we replace those guys?? How about we upgrade OT? Hubbard #50 T Bitonia #5 G Tretter #8 C Zeitler #6 G Robinson #56 T
Spoiler Senior Bowl Notes- The Gregg Williams Conundrum Tony Pauline (643) 35 months Reply Quote This morning I had breakfast with a former assistant coach with the Cleveland Browns and it was a revealing conversation. I was told that while the Browns were on their winning streak at the end of the 2018 season there was some fear and concern in the front office. The fear and concern was over the fact the organization had no intention of keeping Gregg Williams in any capacity with the organization. The more the Browns won the more pressure would be applied to keep Williams and turn him from interim coach to head coach. I’m told Williams had a great influence in the locker room and praise was given to many of his assistants. I was also given some insight into the war room on draft day. I’m told when analytics were presented in favor of selecting a player in the draft most of the coaches shook their heads and said, “here we go again!” The coaches have a disdain for the analytics and detested the fact it was presented as a means to select a player- they like it in small doses but as a dislike it as the overriding means. I first heard this push against analytics last week against at the Shrine game. The person I spoke with gave me the impression that many of the coaches and scouts really don’t respect or even like Paul Depodesta.
As much as I like Hunt, he'd take away carries from Chubb and I do not want that. I can see Hunt as a Steeler tho.
Jimmy is just the worst. Hopefully he’s learned to stay the hell out of the way and let Dorsey do his thing.
Zac Jackson said on Cleveland radio that he's hearing we'll open the season on the road on MNF against Arizona. That would be cool to very cool.
Its waaaaayyyy early to hear things about schedule making and I dont see the appeal of Arizona getting the opening mnf home game while they're terrible. That makes no sense
You don't see the appeal of having your favorite team play on the first Monday night of the season? Especially after we've not been on primetime hardly at all for ten years? If so, I got nothing for you.
I'm talking about the nfl scheduling the game. Why would one of the worst teams in the league host the opening Monday night football game? The cardinals will be lucky to host a single prime time games much less opening weekend
I personally hope it's not that Monday night football game because I want to watch browns cardinals and it's a real bitch to make it through that 2nd game
I've had the AZ game circled as one I'd like to go to. Would prefer it be a little later in the season but I'm down for this.
https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports...rowns/95-3ca906a6-60d3-460f-bef6-f9353288ef25 I like this, gotta strike while half the team are on team friendly deals I'm going to do an informal poll around town the next couple of days, whether you'd like the Browns to get Odell Beckham or the Cavs get Zion Williamson.
i agree, and to add to that, don't blow huge $$ on FA wr talent. maybe spend a little on someone like Chris Conley, or Adam Humphries, but don't blow your wad on a Tyrell Williams.
on the whole I agree, but found it interesting when I went and looked at the top yardage WRs this year and the slots they were drafted, pretty interesting: Top 15 Julio - 1st Hopkins - 1st Evans - 1st Hill - 5th (but would have been higher) JuJu - 2nd Mike Thomas - 2nd D Adams - 2nd Thielen - NA A Brown - 6th TY - 3rd Robert Woods - 2nd Cooks - 1st Keenan Allen - 3rd Golloday - 3rd ODB - 1st If you want a top flight WR, you have to invest a high draft pick on one. Out of 15 WRs, 5 were 1st rounders & only 3 weren't top 3 rounds. I don't want to use the 1st on a WR this year, but round 2 or 3 could go that direction
I like what we have at OL if we resign Greg Robinson. I don't mind drafting some depth there, but not in round 1. We need elite players at every level on defense, and one will be available at 17. On various mocks (which I know aren't gospel), I've seen players like Devin White, Christian Wilkins, Jeffery Simmons, Greedy Williams, Dexter Lawrence, ect... available at 17. Ideally, in my dream world, I would love to grab Dee Ford and Sheldon Richardson in FA, and Devin White fall to us at 17. Wilks would field a nasty defense with those additions.
I think there will be some great options at WR in the 2nd round this year. They’re going to get pushed down with the depth of the DL this year. I’d love the first round pick to be used on DL, LB or CB.
yes, we are thinknig the same, thats why I said OL OR DL in 1st. It's stocked with DL this year, I think thats where you have to look, cause someone very talented will be there at 17
Agreed, I think the OL and DL while not flashy, are critical to the success of a team. By the way, I love Myles Garrett. I follow him on Instagram and the guy is just the best....
I like him, I don't love him. Would be interested if he is there in round 2. Really lacks top end speed, acceleration and explosiveness that I want in a #1 WR. Maybe a slightly better Devin Funchess at this stage IMO.
I don't think he'll run below a 4.50 but I have to disagree on his accel/explosiveness. He had a couple of really impressive punt returns where he crosses the entire field and beats the defense to the corner. He seems like a guy that's going to fall and everyone is going to look back and feel dumb that they didn't take him higher. He catches the ball really well and runs angry after the catch. He reminds me of Michael Thomas/Anquan Boldin.
No way would I put him in either of those WR's class. Especially Thomas...he is one of the best WR in the NFL. But I guess we'll find out.
No one knew they were going to be great wr when they came out. I'm not saying he's going to be as good as they are. Only that he reminds me of them when they were at the same stage.
Spoiler Tony Pauline 670 posts Feb 1, 7:19 PMVIP A source who was at the Senior Bowl last week and is presently with the league at the Super Bowl told me the feeling is the Browns won't be big players in the free agent market. Why? 1- they are not fans of the talent available 2- they believe in the players they have drafted and will rely on future draft's. Granted this is subject to change but that's the feeling as of now.
Spoiler ADKINSra 6717 posts 14 minutes agoVIP -- The Browns have touched base with FS Damarious Randall regarding his status (FA after 2019 season). Randall has indicated to the Browns that he likes it in Cleveland and would like to help the Browns be the next big thing going forward. -- The Browns have reached out to the reps for WR Breshad Perriman regarding their interest in re-signing the former first-round draft selection. While there has been dialogue, there has not been true progress. (Common for this rep group). -- The Browns have spoken with the agent for OT Greg Robinson on numerous occasions, which has led the Browns to believe the player would like to return to the Browns, but the agent expectation level right now easily exceeds what the Browns are thinking. -- The Browns have been in discussion with the agent for WR Rashard Higgins on a contract extension. While there hasn't been an 'official' agreement between the parties, we can state this one is moving in a position direction. -- Off-season roster evaluations are ongoing, some additional time required with the staff changes, which has also given some additional perspective regarding players on each side of the ball. One common question is whether the Browns will retain OLB Jaime Collins (salary), at this time the Browns have not made a determination, though the player is said to be one which the new defensive coordinator believes can play at a high level in his system. -- The Browns have determined that they will investigate adding an EDGE, interior defensive linemen and LB talent/flexibility. -- What happens at Veets, stays at Veets ---- and in some cases, not a whole hell of a lot happens. No worries Browns fans, all is good in "The Land" when it comes down to the GM, personnel folks, the HC and even the team owners. -- One Browns exec from the Super Bowl festivities Saturday night, "We had a feeling Baker (Mayfield) wasn't going to get the rookie of the year award, which just continues to show the lunacy of what the media is. I spoke with him (Baker), he said its all good, fu*# it, wait till they see us next year, they won't be able to deny us."
I've decided I want Ed Oliver. I don't care that he's undersized, he doesn't get beat at the point of attack. I'd start him out at 3 tech and if that doesn't work, he's my LE. There hasn't been a DT that explosive since Aaron Donald.
