Anyone try that skyrim together mod that is in open beta? Can't think of a better time to give it a try, but not if it's terrible

Alright by "I'll try it this weekend" I meant 4 months from now, I guess.

But I did give skyrim together a try. It's...surprisingly functional. Still definitely a lot of issues, but you're there, fuckin' around in skyrim with other people. Think it would work a lot better with a privately hosted server, cuz if people have vastly different mods and gameplay effects, it has a real effect on what you see.

I was going to delve back in again. On that note, it's been years. What are the updated go to mods, especially graphic enhancing mods and character re-design mods?

 

if you install an excessive amount of mods i recommend also using the alternate start mod because the cart ride tends to fuck up more often than not.

 

I don't want excessive and always use the alternate start. I remember using Seraphim or caliente mods for body replaces and Divine SMIM and some 4 k texture packs. Just havn't been on in years and was wondering if there were some better updated ones, especially with the roll out of new consoles.

 

This game is gonna still gonna get remasters when our grandkids are gaming in holodecks.

 

It's gonna be awesome to get Skyrim 12x Special edition 40th anniversary bundle from my grandkids for xmas 2052.

And then I'll get right to work installing 130 mods with giant_asses_of_skyrim.esp first up

 

installing skyrim mods and getting them to work is the actual game, not skyrim.

 

Do the mods work on ps5 or just PC?

 

the "officially approved" mods work on consoles, but all the fun ones are on PC.

 

Paternity leave starts next week, so I just spent a few hours loading/ordering mods on the xbox for all of the free time I won't have

I played a pretty good bit of Skyrim for the first 2-3 months of parenthood. It’s good for chilling with your little dude (or dudette) at 3 am, the music and background was pretty good for getting mine to nod off. Plus, the scare of waking the baby up adds a whole new level of anxiety to random dragon attacks.

 

Skyrim was released 10 fucking years ago today.

 

I've beat it on PS3, PS4, and PS5. Also PC. Platinumed it on two of the systems.

 

It'll be released on 6 more platforms before the next main series Elder Scrolls games comes out

 

It's kind of like GTA in that sense, but doesn't get the same hate.

 

I absolutely love Skyrim and when this thread gets bumped I have the strong urge to download it again and load up some crazy ass mods.

Do you play PC with a controller or mouse and keyboard?
Playing skyrim on PC with PS5 controller was great.

 

currently playing anniversary edition on pc with mouse and keyboard. think i prefer it, have tried both ways (no ps5 controller though).

 

I’ve used both controllers and M&K and prefer M&K honestly. Personal preference though.

 

I'm just not going to play ES6 then I guess.

 

Screw that. I'm buying an Xbox just to play it.

 

I liked the mouse for clicking on specific items. But I typically play on the couch, so using a M&K is not that comfortable. Having shortcuts is also really nice. The problem with m&k was that I wanted to over-mod everything.

 

My freshman year roommates and I were waxing poetically the other day about how we would just run around in Oblivion doing shit for hours while just chilling drinking natural light

no way I miss another elder scrolls unless it’s just total hot trash

 

Yeah, I mean sucks for non Xbox owners, but can’t imagine missing out on E6 unless they just totally fuck it up

I don’t think so. If the game is good though, they will grant early access to reviewers though. We should know before launch. If they don’t, may want to wait a couple weeks after launch. Hopefully that Microsoft money makes it better than before though. I mean Microsoft spent a lot
Money acquiring them and this will be the big exclusive release. Can’t imagine them letting it get fucked up

 

really loving being back in this world again. doesn't feel very dated or anything even 10 years later, and the creation club stuff is all pretty cool seeming so far. only issue is i have to scroll for 30 seconds straight to get to the bottom of my quest list currently.

I'm in the same boat as this unless I have a PC built by then. Skyrim pushed Bethesda into a non system sellers for me personally. I realize I'm in the minority, but they've got to do something to evolve their combat. It has been so bad for so long. Skyrim combat was behind the times when it first released. Hate it, because there's a lot of good about the ES worlds and lore. There are just too many games these days with good worlds along with good combat for me to force myself through a good world with awful combat. Maybe the slight engine upgrades will help in that regard.

 

Calling it "behind the times" is being extremely kind, let's be honest, Elder Scrolls combat is complete dogshit. The fact that Skyrim was so popular in spite of it is a testament of how incredible the exploration aspect of it was.

The combat was dogshit, the storyline was okay at best but most of us here have put close to thousands of hours into it.

 

I think you worded it better than I could. Completely agree. I still don't think I've ever completely finished skyrim, but every one of my builds has always turned into stealth archer at some point

 

I think in a weird way, its story being bland and boring played in its favor. Like if Skyrim's main story quest was like on par with God of War, nobody would be wasting 300 hours off to the side doing enchanting or alchemy or whatever nonsense before they even get to the Greybeards.

A good story would have captured my attention for 50 hours then I'd be left bored at the shitty combat, but since the main story was meh, I went off to the side to explore a cave, or went to a random alchemy shop and found the NPC had a Daedra Heart for sale and then I'd spend the next 5 hours looking up how to craft Daedric armor and then went about grinding smithing. Skyrim just captured a weird balance between fantasy and reality that few other games did and almost accidentally imo. Real life was boring and the bland and boring quests in Skyrim was a nice familiarity yet it gave you the freedom to play out a fantasy RPG life too.

I don't think its something Bethesda can duplicate again, which is why I'm not that pissed about potentially missing out on playing ES6.

 

Anniversary edition is on Steam sale. Haven’t played since it came out on Xbox initially. On PC now with a bunch of mods. Dear God this game is fun.
