I've read that grad transfers count towards this class and next. Do you know which one it is? I still want Seither and then I'm cool with a grad transfer WR
Still think we should have given Stetson’s scholarship to Plumlee The mailman is never playing. Plumlee could have at least made things interesting with the 2021 QB battle/ play DB/WR. He seems like too good of an athlete to give his scholarship to someone we probably could have replaced with a PWO
Plumlee is the better prospect for sure, but we need dudes who are going to stay more than a year. Stetson is a guy who is unlikely to leave again, and is no worse than Hutson Mason or Joe Cox if forced into playing time. Plumlee would’ve been a threat to leave if we signed a 5* QB in the 2020 class.
We needed 3 QB's just for spring ball. If Downing would've stayed I think we might've waited for Plumlee, but you cant go into spring with 2 QB's
I also think I have a stronger arm than Plumlee. He's an incredible athlete, but Hutson Mason and Joe Cox are big time arm talents compared to Plumlee
The Athletic has an interesting article on reranking the 2015 recruiting class (Richt’s last). Our class was nuts - Roquan, Deandre Baker, Ledbetter, Terry Godwin, and Natrez. We’re ranked 25 though (below Toledo, Troy, and Duke) because 14 of the signees who busted and left the program. Goddamn.
Sorry, here’s the link: https://theathletic.com/797789/2019...how-the-class-of-2015-ranks-four-years-later/
Outside of Roquan, Led and Walker none of those big guys played up to their ranking. Baker and Crowder surprised. Kirby’s classes have been so much more efficient.
Trent looked like he was ready for world takeover at the end of his sophomore year. Things got weird after that. I hope he’s ok.
Man, early signing day has really neutered national signing day. Seems kinda weird to have them less than 2 months apart.
I don’t like early signing day Even though it probably benefits us more than others since Kirby is cool with never sleeping Kinda scummy when players sign and the coaches bolt right after early signing day
I truly don’t understand the issue on this. Has Fields or anybody connected to him said anything on the record that disparages UGA? All I’ve seen are folks assuming stuff, but I haven’t been scouring news sources, so I easily could’ve missed something. If he does ultimately win his waiver based on the racist statements, does that really cause any harm to UGA? I wouldn’t tend to think so.
My bball coach called me a cracker in HS. My father now has me in his phone as that and calls me that in public. I'm like DAD, SURROUNDINGS.
This is not quite a fair representation of what happened. Some drunk idiot called him a racial slur in the stands. He found out about it because the media reported it. Do you think Georgia is the first or only place that's ever happened? That doesn't make it right, but saying it's unique to Georgia is bullshit.
I didn't say any of that. I can understand him wanting to leave if he was getting called racial slurs. I wouldn't blame him.
My whole point was even if thats not why he's leaving (I dont think it is), I still cant blame him for using that to play immediately
I'm pretty confident that if something similar happened to Eason he would've used it for immediate PT
Agreed Then he wouldn’t have uga fans pulling for him and he would have people like me criticizing him!
Looking through an obviously phenomenal class, and here my initial thoughts. WR signees are sooo clutch. Needed that badly and looks like it was addressed well. Same with TE on a slightly smaller scale. Front 7 on D is fantastic, but I’m a little nervous about OL, DB, and RB in this class.
We were going to have a hard time with OL in this class considering last year's class. We still managed to sign a 5* in Webb though. What concerns you at DB? RB is a miss for sure. I'm nervous about that spot and what will become of Zamir.
Another elite class, congrats fuckers. I'm enjoying Pickens flipping way too much right now. I'll regret this if he gets in and Justyn Ross' us before he leaves.
In light of recent news of a certain polynesian LB, I'm willing to offer you Trey in exchange for Nakobe. Let's make this happen.
Just more of a numbers thing than anything. I expect Tyson Campbell to become all world, and Eric Stokes looked damn good in his time this year (and everybody was high on Divaad), but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised with any of our projected DB starters getting passed outside of Reed. Who knows what we have with Speed, Chris Smith, or Mark Webb.
Yeah I guess I agree our CB depth chart is not ideal. A lot of unknowns and those last 3 I have pretty much written off. Would be nice if Stevenson came in ready to play.
I think he's getting confused like I was. Our DB class was good imo. Our CB depth chart - filled with unknowns/young guys - is a little concerning.
Kirby had an interesting thought on the immediate future of college football: “I think more and more teams, especially upper echelon programs, will have rosters full of freshman or sophomores and a few juniors, because your (would-be) seniors are coming out early, or they’re transferring, they’re going in the (transfer) portal if they’re not playing,” he said.
