I would love AB, but WR might be the strongest part of our team already and we’d undoubtedly have to sacrifice virtually everywhere else to land him. Matt Ryan would be throwing to him from his back. Unless we can somehow ship out Freeman and some duds as part of it in a BJ Upton package
Getting another WR is dumb af. If we did get AB, we better just go 10 personnel all game and throw it 70 times
maybe we can circle back on Kubiak http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25738153/gary-kubiak-vic-fangio-coaching-staff-denver-broncos
https://draftwire.usatoday.com/2019...-dwayne-haskins-nick-bosa-quinnen-williams/3/ this mock has us taking Rashaan Gary (Ugh, I'd rather have Deandre Baker, and of all the DL in this draft, Gary is my least favorite) Chase Winnovich Ross Piersbacher 110. Atlanta Falcons | Damon Arnette | CB | Ohio State I hate those first 3 picks, so of course thats what we will do
ATLANTA -- Falcons defensive end Takkarist McKinley was undergoing a mental evaluation after police were called to a hotel in Los Angeles. TMZ Sports reported that a friend became concerned for McKinley's well-being and summoned police. The Falcons acknowledged the incident in a statement from coach Dan Quinn, who said the team will do "everything we possibly can to support and assist Takk." No criminal charges were filed. TMZ Sports said McKinley was cooperative when detained by officers. McKinley played collegiately at UCLA. He was a first-round pick by the Falcons in 2017, making headlines on draft night with an emotional tribute to the late grandmother who raised him. This past season, McKinley played in 15 games with eight starts. He led the Falcons with seven sacks and ranked second with 15 hits on the quarterback.
So due to those awesome last 3 wins that dropped us at least 9 spots in the draft, Kipers first mock has us taking Ed Oliver. Tons of potential, but the critiques in his write-ups fit the falcons perfectly. “His tape was picked apart this season” “he was better in 2017” “needs to keep developing as a pass rusher” “questions about size and if he can hold up over 16 games” Any OGs that are worth taking at 14? Jonah Williams maybe?
I’ve seen Ed Oliver, Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence and Jeffery Simmons in various projections. All could be pro bowlers, all could bust. Unfortunately, I have very little faith in our staff identifying and developing the correct choice. Fingers crossed we get the coin flip right.
Matt Miller mock from BR 1 -- Jeff Simmons DL MSST 2 -- Joe Jackson EDGE Miami 3 -- Michael Jordan OG Ohio State 4 -- Dillon Mitchell WR Oregon 5 -- Dru Samia OG Oklahoma 6 -- Mark Fields CB Clemson 7 -- Alex Barnes RB KState I mean if I could get that right now I would. If in rounds 1-5 we don't get 2 OL, 2 DL and a CB I'll be violently angry.
Samia as a 5th would be ideal. Would like to go for a Tackle in 2nd/3rd. Probably need to search for a CB before the 6th. I want Wilkins at #1....cant see Blank signing off on Simmons given his past.
agreed, but I like his game in the modern NFL. Think we need someone to put next to Grady even though both our first round ends are likely busts.
I’d rather take someone like Doerysch from Wake in the 6th or 7th and invest heavily in OL/DL and CB in rounds 1-5
We have a QB with the highest cap hit and a RB with the 4th highest. We arent exactly great at this salary cap thing
Ryan I kinda get. That’s the price for a franchise QB right now. Only way to avoid it is to keep going young every 4-5 years.
I agree on paying a QB. It’s dumb as shit in 2019 To pay a RB anything above peanuts esp if your QB is being paid. If you pay your QB, the path is to hit on rookies and undervalued deals.
Damn, that's giving flashbacks to that classic Dimitroff 2013 draft: using our first, second and third (traded away) round picks on CBs. He locked on to Truf, gave up the third to move up 8 spots because he was spooked Minnesota would take him, when the next two CBs available turned out to be Xavier Rhodes and Darius Slay anyway.
They just gave him a contract extension last spring. Why do that if they're just going to cut him to avoid paying a roster bonus?
Love Matt Bryant, but this is a move I can get behind. He's the second or third oldest player in the entire league, and missed 4 weeks with a hammy and had a back problem too that he played through. Now's the time to move on and save 3/4 mil. in the process.
