i take my capital J Journalistic integrity very seriously and only request others do the same such as when i was the first to report julio “ace” teheran would have a sub-5 fip
Sixto was far away their best pitching prospect. He’s got history with arm trouble though. Alfaro was their starting catcher. He’s got an elite arm, good raw power, and high strikeout rate. The 3rd guy is like a fringe 30 prospect. It’s hard to compare Alfaro because we don’t have anything like him. Sixto is like Wright or Anderson. The third guy would be like maybe Dustin Peterson? The 250k in international slot money is nice too.
I think CJ is a top-20 guy, but he is a 22-year old who destroyed rookie ball and a little bit of A-ball, so I'm good with being a little cautious there from a ranking perspective.
Bowman saying you guys made all of your prospects individually available but weren’t going to offer them in a package, basically echoing what Mish said about it being Riley and not much else Also said Braves didn’t have the major league ready player to offer that philly did
They’re banking heavily on Alfaro getting better. His offensive numbers will go down a lot and they’re already pretty bad.
Is Derek Dietrich still on the market? Dude has a .813 career OPS and 120 wRC+ away from Marlins Park, we ought to give him a call.
Unless Liberty/AA spend about 20-25 million just to get to 2018 payroll levels then it really doesnt matter. If he looks 100% healthy and has an awesome April/May, I fully expect a 2-3 year extension coming
Would be incredibly stupid to offer him an extension with our 3b depth in the minors, especially doing so as early as May. Let him walk and offer a qualifying offer.
They are confident he will be just fine as a platoon with Kakes later in the year and then take over full time next season
he hasnt even played a major league game at his actual position much less at a position he doesnt currently play. we are not confident at all that he's the LF/RF of the future or even going to be ready to platoon there this year
I like to circle back to how dumb some of these statements are. First, if it becomes NL DH, we’d have to acquire someone who can mash, so I’m not sure how this would result in more at-bats for Johan. Second, this is an organization hell bent on carrying at least 7 relievers, so if anything we’d need more super utility guys on the bench (like Chuck) to offset the defensive worthlessness of whoever the DH might be.
I mean it does kind of make sense in theory. Like when Markakis gets a "day off" theyd just dh him and hit him 4th and there'd be an odd man out please kill me this is terrible
When you have a chance to slot Kakes at cleanup without expending his energy in the field, you just have to take it
Corporate team ownership has nearly driven me from the sport I have loved for nearly 30 years. A strike after 2021 would hurt. But if they force the DH in the NL, that will be it for me. I’ll just quit watching and caring.
My statements were informed by my distaste of the lineups we field when we travel to the AL. When you’re facing teams with the likes of Stanton, JD, Encarnacion, Cruz, Etc., and your best option is plug in your best bench guy (which for us is never a power hitter bc we don’t need a backup to Freddie), it’s all the meh in the world. There’s nothing dangerous about a lineup with Flow AND Zuk in it.
We are going to need a lot of things go our way to win the division again. That begins with 1st half Ozzie and Kakes returning for a full season and Donaldson returning to at least 80% of his former self. Next our pitchers and specifically the bullpen will have to play above their heads and hope that we don’t have any injuries. Then we have to hope that the Nats and Phillies succumb to a combination of pressure, injuries, and terrible situational managing.
i can't believe ace is still on the roster. warms my heart. gonna be a long year of TQS after TQS for the haters and losers of this thread
It’s baffling that we haven’t moved Teheran, especially considering we’re not trying to move young arms so he’s just gonna block the development of some of them. It’s also wild that there was a market for Gray (including our dumbasses) who has similar career numbers and a bigger contract.
