It’s also a bit telling that of all the long-term deals Wren gave out to lock up our once young core, Julio is the only guy nobody wanted/wants.
I keep hoping there is something coming for us but it seems like we will pick a decent arm for the pen and a closer (not kimbrell) and call it an offseason. Didnt do anything to build on the momentum of last season.
Except sign a former MVP. Lets jump off the ship when we have the most young talent we’ve had in over a decade. Good idea guys. It will make this thread a lot more tolerable if y’all do it now.
I'm not really worried about us particularly but I will say I dont believe we are the best team in the division anymore which sucks
We weren’t at this point last season either. I’ll be concerned if we haven’t made significant moves after the trade deadline but i think it’s juvenile to worry until then.
When everyone around you is getting better other than the Marlins its frustrating to watch. We had and still have obvious holes in the team. Resigning Kakes and getting Donaldson really hasnt addressed those issues.
Sure but they’ve been doing that the past 15-20 years while the Braves haven’t. Not sure why people think this is new, oh wait, it’s because this thread is made up of bandwagon fans that are looking to jump ship at the first sign of adversity.
Signing Donaldson addresses a lot of issues. Braves fans acting like he hasn’t been the best 3B for the past 8 years because of one injured year.
The Mets making moves isn’t going to make them less Met. They still don’t have the core positional talent and that staff has a lot of question marks outside of DeGrom. Shit, they already had Familia too. The Phillies lineup is now stacked but they didn’t address any of their rotation issues. Robertson is nice but that’s a lot of cash for a setup man. The Nats are, well, the Nats. Corbin’s great and Gomes is underrated but Dozier is a downgrade from Murphy and Harper is probably gone. I’d say we have just as good a chance as any at winning the division.
The Markakis move pisses me off the most. If the Marlins were asking for too much for Realmuto okay I can understand that. If you feel comfortable with how the young pitching is developing and don’t want to give them up for someone I can kinda get that too. But I get angry just thinking about fucking Markakis hitting cleanup opening day.
He won’t hit cleanup again. I think that’s just the thread overreacting. It’s a good value and didn’t cost us a draft pick. In a vacuum, I still hate Markakis very much.
I think what pissed everyone off the most was his admittance that he "probably should of taken some rest days" when during the season Snit asked him to and he said no , how selfish do you have to be? Looking at his 2nd half/playoff numbers from last year makes me sick. He has to sit at least once a week to keep him fresh, and definitely come no where near the clean up spot. That is on Snit though, he has to understand that and I think he will.
Do you not understand how good Donaldson is? He’s the best offensive player added in division to date. Granted the health is a question mark.
kakes should bat lead off until august 1st when ender finally is done with his yearly first half shit
It’s really frustrating that these folks that just started following our team this year don’t seem to “get it”
Problem with the Phillies is our complete inability to hit Nola and Eflin on top of them upgrading players at just about every position. They still have Arietta and Pivetta/Velasquez who can sling it. If thy get Harper/Machado they’re really scary and Kapler can only handicap you so much.
Even if we win the division, we have no hope to win a playoff series. Go ahead and chalk up another loss to the Dodgers.
