Just had the best lunch I’ve maybe had on this diet. Barbacoa and carnitas with queso, avocado slices, and fresh verde and habanero salsa. I bet I ate a pound of it. Oh and fresh fried chicharones for the queso and salsa. Mexican grocery stores are next level.
6 weeks in, officially hit the 20 lb lost marker this morning. HOWEVA, wife and I leave for vacation on Wednesday to FL for 6 days for a little rest and relaxation before our first baby is due in a few months. Rather than be tempted all vacation, I think I am just going to introduce slowly this week more carbs and try to just watch what I eat in FL, but not be so restrictive. Focus on portion control as much as I can. I know I will gain some back, but going to try to practice self control. /deardiary
Going to Colombia in two weeks. Starting next Sunday I’m going to slowly introduce more carbs. Going to do the same and focus on portion control until I get back.
Like 10 of them. They are awesome. Same with the hot dogs at La Pasiva. Every time I’m there more than a week I end up craving vegetables and fruit because of how much meat I eat.
Had my first cheat meal since I started At my in-laws and there's an amazing Amish bakery. Wife and I planned to get a donut and it was amazing. Other than that, I walked out with 6 types of cheese for $13.
Feb 1 was two years keto. No cheat meals except when i was in the hospital and they would only feed me jello and Gatorade for a couple of days. Have kept off over 50 pounds and non-fasted cholesterol came back at 187 total (non-fasted because it was short notice to get it done at work for free). Lowest totals in my pre-keto days, even fasted, was mid 200’s.
Down 1.6 lbs last week (to 206.2) . I think I'm hitting about where I should be. May try to get down in the 200-205 and just eat sensibly (started December 1 @ 237).
first bloodwork came back great outside of my health specific thing. did not show up as being in ketosis but I'm chalking that up to doing the bloodwork 2 days after the super bowl where I ate a shit ton of carbs. hoping that being strict as hell and doing it again in 2 weeks will normal everything out
I started doing exactly this. Going on a cruise in a couple weeks and this weekend I had 2 pieces of thin crust Domino's. AKA cardboard. I'm going to try and slowly up my carbs to about 50g/day.
Is the increase in ‘mental clarity’ on keto common? And for those who had it, how soon after starting did you notice?
giving up various sugars set me back in terms of mental clarity but that can easily be attributed to me not taking the threads advice with a well rounded balance (ie no other vitamins, etc).
Stuck at 185 for the last 3 weeks. Either I am at my natural weight or “starvation diet” it is, not sure what else I can do to lose the final 5-10. No way in hell I can hit 170. That was crazy of me to think I could get that small. Open to any suggestions.
yes. I'd suffer from low blood sugar on my standard diet and would become foggy and irritable. Since switching to keto diet I don't really have those issues because i'm not being fueled by carbs. It took me about a week
If you’re only fasting for 48 hours, one can probably do without vitamins but definitely take in some sodium.
Can they be cut up and fried and made into chips? Queso dip is Keto friendly. Can make some chicken or steak nachos.
It’s written on the back of the packaging that you’re not allowed to cut them up and fry them in oil, sorry.
Listen to The Model Health Show podcast #330 on Set Point Diet. It's an interesting listen. What is your body fat %?
