I’d echo the toothpick strategy but would also add the obvious: use a longer screw. Those are way too small. Not enough bite especially for holding up those relatively large cabinet doors.

Your installer was just being lazy or is dumb (or both likely). It’s just a matter of time before the others come off with a little downward pressure.
I’m having a fire today (in the fireplace) and burning all the junk wood that has fallen from trees in the last two years. The wood is all green/wet so the burn is obviously terrible and creating that gross yard fire smoke. My neighbor from the down the street just called to make sure our house wasn’t burning down.
Put a dab of wood glue in the hole and push a wooden golf tee in (as long as the hole is big enough). Tap it with a hammer a couple of times gently. Cut off the golf tee and either use a wood chisel or a piece of sand paper to get it flush to the door. You can screw in to it like a solid piece of wood. I had to do this to a bunch of door frames when I replaced hardware. It worked great.

Ha. Feels like it. We moved from Denver to Amarillo TX to finally take care of the mess my dad left us when he passed. We both don’t really like it here (to put it mildly). So we’re hoping to finish everything out here (along with the local gigs my wife picked up) in the next 12-15 months and get back to somewhere we actually want to live.
Probably more that he was cheap using small screws. If you go to a bigger screw; might want to drill pilot holes to make sure you don’t split the wood.
Got a frantic call from my immediate next door neighbor. He said the “chimney” was making some “loud popping noises” right after he started a fire in the fireplace and the house was filling with smoke instead of leaving out the chimney. I went over there and he had pulled out the large fake log and had unscrewed the long horizontal pipe that brought in the gas. There was a ton of real wood smoldering in his gas-only fireplace. There were some weird colored stains all over the bottom of the fireplace and I asked what that could be and he said it was probably the lighter fluid. Holy shit! He sprayed lighter fluid in! I have no idea how well a gas-only fireplace can tolerate real wood burning in it but it sure does seem like a miracle his house didn’t explode. This guy is a pediatric ICU doc. One of the smartest people I’ve ever met. But he really fits the doctor-lacking-common-sense stereotype I and others have fostered so well. He said he wasn’t happy with the lack of heat generated by the gas fireplace and wanted a more natural smell. I recommended he turn up the heater and sent him a link to my favorite frasier fir candle

I cant tell you how many 'warranty' calls I have been on for lower cabinet doors pulling loose and I walk in and find a pleasantly plump teacher leaning on a door to reach down and get something out of her cabinet
As was mentioned earlier a pilot hole will minimize the risk of any damage to the face board. Also you mention 3/4” inch thickness, the screws are going perpendicular to the “thicknes”. Plenty of length there and again the pilot holes will minimize any damage.
Wow. We may need a new thread, "Stupid shit my neighbor did" NineteenNine - Yes, those are the wrong screws. My cabinet installer installed that size on one of our cabinet doors. I emailed the cabinet maker when I pulled the whole door off with a regular pull. He had somebody come out and then responded that their guy screwed up on install but it shouldn't happen again now that the right size is installed. Our others were all installed correctly so it was kind of weird.
Put in an offer on an 1863 colonial an hour ago. Wife and I weren't planning to look for a home until fall or even next summer but went to an open house today in the neighborhood we want to move to and it was perfect. My realtor says there's another offer coming in too so not getting my hopes up but it'd be nice to finally get a yard after buying a new condo each year as we've been building our rental portfolio.
Those are hard to find in South Florida. Lowe's, Home Depot, Publix, etc. don't carry them. Target does though. My A/C was making a loud noise so I called HVAC company. They said the A/C would die the second it had any significant load on it (90 degrees). I now have a new A/C $4,300 later.
In my mind that’s the first chance I get to make sure my home warranty is paid up and then wait for it to die.

Lebanon, we actually almost ended up in Glendale last year. I used to work at the Forest Park exit off 275 and we're looking at Glendale last spring, but I got a new job last June and now work from home so we can go rural.

Have any of you guys had professional designs done for projects you were going to do? I’ve done some rough ones myself, but decided to bring in an architect to draw up some plans for my kitchen remodel. Guy saw what I had and liked everything. Said he’d draw up a design based on what I had already conceptualized, including relocating a wall, and let me know how much. Took him 3 weeks to tell me he could give me a 3d design for $3,500. I was expecting $1,500-2,000 max. Needless to say I’m not paying that. Meeting with an engineer next to find out what I need to do with the wall I’m moving, then gonna subcontract out that work. I can handle the rest of the remodel.
Sounds like $2k too much to me. $1500 would be top tier price for a set of plans and walk thru drawings for one room. Post up if you have questions along the way. How much wall are you taking out?

Lebanon is nice, can get good bang for your buck out there. Glendale is really nice, love that area, but you're gonna pay to live there, that's for sure.
