This may be a huge hot take, but in my opinion, "Holier than Thou," is by far the best song on the black album.
Damn it Asked what happened to the "heavy" new song that MASTODON talked about releasing earlier this year, Brann said: "We wanted to release it right ahead of this tour, and we were trying really hard, and we had one foot in the studio and one foot on the airplane coming to Europe, and it just didn't really come together as quickly as we wanted it to. It's finished — the song is fully finished and it's mastered and ready to rock — but we'll just have to wait to release it. It would've made sense to release it ahead of this tour because we have Scott Kelly[NEUROSIS] with us and he sings on some of it, so that would've been cool. We missed by a week or something and then we were stupid and went and blabbed about it like it was going to be a done deal. We thought it was going to be done sooner, but there were some circumstances that got in the way, unfortunately. But it's still a kickass song and it's pretty heavy."
Somehow Aether Realm hitched onto a tour that's going to be in Portland and the Night Flight Orchestra doesn't even tour the U.S.
It's a mix of the newer Dark Tranquillity sound and feces. Mostly feces. If that's todays standard melo death then melo death took a wrong turn somewhere. Fucking Soilworks fault most likely. Proper melodic death metal.
Goddamn, you can tell what each band is going to sound like based on their photos alone. Eucharist Unanimated Rifftera
Add a couple of those earrings that stretch out your earlobes and Rifftera would be a full blown 'core band.

fuck yeah i've been meaning to check this out. will peel me away from the new Rotting Christ album for just a minute.
In honor of Presidents Day I’m gonna post some anarchist punk shit. These people played with us when we were teenagers multiple times and were super cool Perhaps founding fathers of our scene. Idk. They were cool though. .
I know you don’t want me to form a punk band but I can’t help it. I love crusty thrashy stuff. There will be death metal elements and some keyboards with acoustic interlouds. This hasn’t happened yet but I have a couple songs. I need to find a drummer who doesn’t suck and convince my old bass player to get on board. I think he will.
Relapse just put out a track from from the remastered reissue of Incantation's "'Upon The Throne of Apocalypse" Sounds tight.
That track is good. Anal Cunt sucks but we played with them right before dude died and it made me think of them.
I mean, it's a Dream Theater album. They are what they are at this point. It's a little more stripped down than their last few, and definitely way better than the last one
Just finished the movie "Lords of Chaos". It dragged aimlessly just a slight bit in the middle, but overall I'd give it a 3.5/5.0. I have definitely seen worse. The worst part of the entire experience was watching the movie with my wife and her two high school preppy- cheerleader sisters who had probably never even heard black metal before and I had to keep answering fucking questions.
I’m considering seeing it with my tolerant but decidedly non-metal wife. How disturbing/graphic are the murder scenes? Also, I’m happy that Jonas Akerlund was the one who made it. He’s pretty much the only person on the planet qualified to direct, since he played drums for a time in Bathory.
