This is going to end with Pruitt and Fulmer getting into an altercation at some point, Fulmer fires Pruitt, and hires himself to coach the team
You think Colleges should be able to employ and unlimited # of On-Field coaches? There is a limit in place for a reason.
This is what I think ultimately happens. That relationship has another year or two before it sours. Fulmer thinks he never should have been fired. Most of the older Vols agree with him.
Jeremy Pruitt again is bolstering his Tennessee coaching staff with a strong hire. This time it's on the defensive side of the ball. Sources told GoVols247 on Friday afternoon that the Vols are expected to hire Oakland Raiders defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley, a former assistant coach at Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama, to the coaching staff, barring any unforeseen circumstance
Thought of you yesterday listening to this. Scroll down and listen to Phillip Fulmer talks to 3HL. It feeds your narrative. http://www.1045thezone.com/3hl/
3HL when it was Dougherty, Clay Travis and the former Titan name escapes me was gold when they'd ROAST Dooley.
The most interesting of the bunch being Pruitt. Then Fulmer... Sherrer is probably really happy. There were a few reports a couple weeks ago about him looking else where that were shot down really quickly. We now know why...
Add in rumph, rocker, Weinke, Chaney and a DC who really isn’t in control of the defense and you’ve got yourself a stew brewing
Pretty sure it's a base 3-4 but no one really runs it. They live in nickel like us, so it's multiple. I wonder if Rocker even goes on the road to recruit? Impressed with Will Friend getting two 5* OL. Fucking guy was trash on the recruiting trail in Athens. Although the WV kid was gift wrapped by his coach.
Rumph always had a personality players and fans liked but he seemed to be a disappointment on the trail
That's a recruiting staff that with an 8 win season will be a pain in the ass against head to head, I'll give them that. May be the best pure recruiting group in the country, the product is just hard to sell right now.
Not that I necessarily disagree with you, but how do you figure they may be the best recruiting group in the country?
Pruitt, Ansley, Martin, Niedermeyer, Rocker is a better top 5 than any other staff by a decent bit imo, including Saban/whoever our top 4 are and Kirby and Jimbo's crews. All are bagman material. The other five guys aren't weak either. Friend, Johnson, Sherrer especially.
Pruitt pretty openly wants to bring in the most possible talent over the next 2-3 years. From a coaching perspective it's not the greatest, I don't think we see all of them there in a few years, though. Short term talent wheelbarrows.
Well yea Bama has a completely new staff. So that makes sense. Rocker is an awful recruiter. I would trade Ansley for Warren rn, but other than that I think you might be crazy.
Just seems like a waste. Get a bunch of guys who can coach at important positions like DL, OL and DB and then let Neidermayer handle the bags.
Get the talent you need to not even need to out coach the schools not named UF/UGA/Bama and then the sell becomes easier for them. 5-7 is hard even for guys like Ansley and Tee.
I remembered him being better than his all time list shows, but it doesn't scream awful. I'd change my statement to their top 4 are better than anybody else, though. Not that they will have a better class than Bama/UGA, etc. anytime soon, but they will pull off upsets with those guys. See Henry To'oto'o.
I know you guys get upset when we say it, but Pruitt was absolutely a better DC and recruiter than Kirby. Head coach, it's Kirby by a mile for the forseeable future.
I don’t think it works quite like that. Composite rankings don’t win games on their own or Butch and Muschamp would have Tennessee and Florida on top of the CFB world.
If Bama doesn't have the crazy staff turnover, they don't get that kid. I'm not saying they won't get their fair share, but go look at Glenn Schumann and Dan Lanning's list...
I think this is because Pruitt is a Bama grad and nothing more. Kirby is beyond a better recruiter. Pruitt wasn't very good here. He landed one Pruitt special in Deandre Baker and whiffed on 5-6+ others at DB. He did mask Rocker's recruiting on the DL, though, and signed a couple of decent players. And you're talking to someone who loves Pruitt.
Pruitt was your DC. Under Richt. This is some apples to oranges shit. I'm not gonna debate it, I'm just gonna say if Saban retired tomorrow, give me Kirby as HC. If we somehow could have one or the other for DC in fantasy land, give me Pruitt for recruiting and coaching. Recruiting isn't by a significant margin, but I'd take JP.
I mean sure, if Tosh isn't pushed out/rejects the demotion he comes, but we still reclaimed the lead in a big way and Pruitt and co. out finessed our staff during the dead period leading up to his signing. It was down to us or Washington like 2 days before and they winged it.
