Not live, but listed on the daily schedule with a specific start time so that all riders start riding at the scheduled start time. There is box on the schedule's event listing that says Encore for the repeats. I ride in the evening on weekdays and those encore rides may have 50 to 150 riders versus the ~500-1000 riders that may be in the live ride.
How many of you guys started out doing 30-45 minute rides? I've been doing 20 minute rides and I'm concerned about taking that next step. Even an additional ten minutes sounds like a lot at this point.
That's awesome. I'm going to follow your lead and do my first 30 minute ride now that I've done four 20 minute rides. Thanks.
There's definitely been a few times in the rides where I just have to keep cruising instead of pushing through a climb.
Running/walking/strength trying does wonders for cycling. Also don’t underestimate the importance of stretching and yoga for recovery.
I haven't been able to cast the Peloton app to my TV with much success. At best, I just get a "podcast" version of it - i.e. audio with a nice interface, but no video of the actual workout. I'd like to do some stretching/meditation exercises, but it's kind of weird doing it with just audio. What am I doing wrong?
What are you using? Is it the actual bike app or iOS/Android app? I’ve been able to mirror my bike to my kindle tv but not straight to the smart tv
You probably need the Apple TV. I think iOS and smart tv use different technology to cast. I think most smart tv use a version of Android OS. You might be able to use chrome cast if you have that.
I was told that since the peloton is an android based system, that you cannot airplay. You can cast to a roku or a firestick though
I have a bit of a cold coming on so I decided to take it easy on a 30 minute ride today. Looked up about halfway through and had a shot at my PR so I pushed and got it. 247kj. Still trying to break through 250. That’s probably a pretty amateur number but I can definitely tell that I’m getting stronger
Have a cold coming on so I’m trying to sweat it out today. Whoever said Hannah is good is a liar. She sucks and has butthole eyes.
First time I lost power during a ride. When I got the ride back up, I had lost all mileage and output. Not surprising I guess.
Next time look at the bottom right of the screen there will be something that looks like a clock click on that it might have the the ride and you’ll be able to start from almost were you lost power/internet. Sorry if you knew this already.
Starting a personal challenge tomorrow where I’m going to ride for 30 straight days. The rides have to be at least 45 minutes, except for I’ll allow myself a 30-minute ride on Sundays. Anyone else want to join and hold each other accountable?
I’d do this with you but I’ve been riding outdoors a lot lately I also sometimes do multiple short rides (10-20 min) when I don’t feel like riding. It tricks my mind because they end so quickly. If you’d be willing to allow for those things I wouldn’t mind joining you.
Let’s do it. After you ride, come in here and say “Day (whatever) complete” or something. Anyone else want to join? The more people in on this, the better. Don’t worry so much about the length of the ride. It’s more about getting a group to ride every single day for 30 days. For our newer riders, pick 20 minutes or 30 minutes or whatever you want. Just ride for 30 straight days.
I’ll start tomorrow or Monday if drink tonight. We should try and incorporate yoga, strength and stretching workout and too.
I'm really struggling to find consistency and I'm very disappointed in myself. I've just found it hard to make it happen consistently with my work schedules and kids. It's been very defeating lately. I enjoy it when I do it but I'll do it a day or two for a week then go through a tough stretch working two jobs where I can't make myself do it at all. It's been two weeks since I've gotten on. Just makes me feel like a failure.
It’s hard, but so worth it. Join our challenge and let us keep you accountable. Even if you ride for 15 minutes a day, that’s more than most people do.
Yeah. When I have free time the kids are at home. They're 2 and 3 years old so it's hard to trust them by themselves for 30-45 mins when I'm on a bike. I know it's not just gonna happen on it's own and I need to MAKE it a priority but it is so fuckin hard right now as a parent with two toddlers and two jobs. One of which I'm away from home for 12-13 hours a day and don't get home until midnight from. Waking up early is not an option either when I'm getting to bed at 1am and the kids are waking up at 6am or so every day. I'm bitchin I know but I'm just hoping to get some encouragement and support.
Did a test ride at my local peloton store today and really enjoyed it. If we decide to buy, my wife and I will be using it so looking at the different packages now and just wondering, before I go down the research price route, can you buy the shoes, mat, weights cheaper elsewhere than the Family Package cost? Or is the family package the way to go? Thanks for any other insight too.
The shoes are personal preference. I don’t mind the Peloton shoes, but others find them uncomfortable, particularly if you have wide feet. You can absolutely get the mat and weights for considerably less on Amazon. My suggestion is use a code from one of the guys here (not sure who is up) to save $100. Put that toward your shoes, then buy mat and weights online.
The bike is the only Peloton product I use. My wife uses their headphones. My wife bought a mat at Dicks. I wear Giro shoes, Plantronics ear buds, Scosche Heart Rate Mon. I think you can get some free Peloton gear using a referral code from someone here if you make the purchase. I believe it's worth a $100 in gear, but a lot of their gear prices are pretty comical (probably b/c they give so much of it away on referrals). You need any shoe with Look Delta cleats
As far as cleats go the Peloton shoes have been great for me, but bought some cleats with "float" in them and its been way more comfortable. Just an idea.
Decided to start my challenge on a Monday, so I’m starting tomorrow. Anyone else want to join me and Daniel Ocean? I’ll make some chart to keep us accountable.
Can you connect your Spotify / Apple account through the peloton TV to listen to your own music? Can you connect AirPods too?
You can connect air pods but you cannot integrate your own music into the peloton with the instructor. You can obviously listen to your own music on the bike you just wouldn’t get the instructor with it
More comfortable while riding, or comfortable in terms of less soreness, or both? I read about these, but lots of mixed opinions. I'm comfortable riding, but get some hip soreness after big rides. You can now closed caption classes (not sure if all classes) and listen to your own music (I've never tried it): Closed Captioning Newly released on-demand classes now have closed captioning. You can find classes with captions by using a new filter in the on-demand library on the Bike. Within those classes, you can turn captions on or off at any time during the class through the quick settings menu located on the top right corner. This is the first step in a series of upgrades to make more content available with captioning.
