It gets better. Finished it last night and thought it started a little slow doing all the character intros but really takes off in the second half.
8 episodes in...on a random day in the ‘80s 43 women gave birth to babies. The women weren’t pregnant until that day. An eccentric billionaire adopted 7 of them. Billionaire dies and the kids who have powers (now grown up) reunite to save the world
Watched it all on Sunday. Thought I was gonna put it on in the background and get some work done. No work done. I liked it a lot and I try not to nitpick but Dancing in the Moonlight broke the immersion. A lot of people on the subreddit for the show loved it. Leaving this vague enough to not spoil anything. Hazel is my dude.
I kept having more and more questions come up while watching that never got answered. Really liked the show though. Binged it in 2 days.
How long should we spoiler anything of significance? I know the Marvel thread rules but this is much longer than a movie and yet dropped all at once.
I'd probably spoiler until the end of the month...gives people 2 weeks to watch it. Don't really care either way
I'll finish the last two episodes tonight and I'm curious if the questions I have get resolved. I ordered the first 3 volumes of the comic book off of Amazon so hopefully that will help as well
Woah, so I read the first volume over the last hour and only at the end where they talk about writing it did I find out that the writer and genesis of this series is the lead singer from My Chemical Romance haha
Gerard Way has been doing the comic book thing for a while...never thought I’d be down with his stuff but here we are
Is Ellen Page an awful actress or is it just me? I thought her emotional scenes in this show were bad.
loved the show. wasn't a huge fan of the non-ending ending, but will definitely watch the second season
Spoiler I disagree, it was pretty clear that 5 succeeded because he prevented all of them from dying.
Really enjoyed this. Had never heard of UA or seen anything before noticing the trailer on Netflix and I think having 0 expectation or prior knowledge made it all the better. Again, loved the music usage especially during the shootout at the bowling ally in E10
I'm loving it so far (through episode 7), but just one thing has been bothering me: can someone else explain the timeline to me? The kids are born in the 1989, yet a lot of the background props (extras' clothing, vehicles, etc.) are dated compared to the era that they should be in. Anyone else notice that?
All my gf could focus on throughout the show was how cell phones would solve 90% of their crises. I always have to explain how conflict drives stories and it's only problematic if they ever show a cell phone and then don't use it. She counterpoints that the world has time travel and other modern tech.
Just received the first two volumes of the UA comic books yesterday. Ripped through the 1st one, TheGrifter all I can say is wow
Interesting premise and the second half of the season was pretty good. But good god Luther is one of the stupidest characters I’ve ever seen.
Luther is the prototypical big dumb strong guy, he’s a little better in the comics. Diego nailed it when he told him the only reason Luther stayed was because he was afraid of letting the past go.
Yes. Also noticed when they were in the VA Hall before they got into the fight. Klaus was looking at photos of himself and it looked like Vietnam era military. 2000s when he'd be in the Military. Also agree w everyone about the music. One of the better use of music Ive seen in a show or movie in a long time. My only question is what happened to the other 35 kids born on that day and do they have super powers???
Klaus opened Hazel & Cha Cha’s time machine briefcase and got zapped back to 1968 Vietnam where he spent 10 months The other 35 kids born on the same day remains a mystery that might be addressed later
Did a rewatch this weekend. As discussed, I also read the comic. I may enjoy the first season of the show more than the first volume of the comic. As a comic nerd, I don’t know if I’ve ever said that before.
On a semi related note, I’d watch the shit out a Netflix/Amazon/etc. adaptation of Warren Ellis’ Planetary
