Also Alonso isn’t even In the squad and is being tested and RLC our again with back problem.

I hope that CHO starts but I’m certainly not counting on it

At this point there is absolutely no reason not to install some youth into the squad. If we don't have a drastically different lineup after last match then I'm done with Sarri

why keep hudson-odoi against his will if we have no plans to play him? Do we think he will sign an extension based on getting even less minutes than he was before? Or is it worth it for us to lose the whole 35 million pound fee to spite bayern? Starting to think he would have been sold if bayern werent so dumb and made the whole thing public.

I’d rather us spite Bayern than take the fee and waste it on someone else who sucks.

Welp. Fine with getting knocked out tbh but this is pathetic. Fire Alonso into the fucking sun.

Something that has been bugging me for months is the Chelsea beat writers (Levene, Kinsalla, Johnson, etc.) really banging the drum for Sarri-out. Don’t need to be cheerleaders and there have obviously been issues but it’s really felt that coverage has been really negative for a long time, even before the results started to wobble.

Zappacosta is sub 3 and ampadu, RLC and CHO don’t see the field. And we play Alonso. Hard to really support him at this point.

The failure to change ANYTHING is going to be his downfall. Feels like it’s almost there over and over again but it’s just not working as it should. Go dust Guus off from China or whatever and pray we win Europa.

About to wander the desert for a few years it seems.

Nothing really exciting about the club right now with Hazard and CHO leaving. I'm excited for Pulisic but it seems like he is walking into pure chaos.

Edit: looks like the video got taken down but it was a large group of fans chanting “fuck sarriball” toward the end of the game.

Sarri is part of the problem with his inability to change but the players and club itself are just as much at fault.

This is the exact shit I’m talking about. I know Dan is a fan too and not a traditional beat reporter but the constant snark to remind everyone how fucked everything is, isn’t welcome, particularly when he seems to have very little to say about the players or the board (his sources).

This feels like when AVB got sacked. Attempt at a massive overhaul in playing style that fails miserably.

I blame the board most for this situation and I do think there are limitations with this squad but this is the kind of shit that makes me think sarri isn’t the guy to build a squad for in the summer.

Until we commit to a full rebuild with youth this is it. Think major changes are needed and not just with Sarri, club overall needs an overhaul

This is why you need tactical flexibility in the premier league. Even our 3-4-2-1 under conte was figured out to an extent after our 13 game winning streak. His 3-5-2 just didn’t have a good enough 3rd midfielder to work. Squad isn’t good enough to be what we want but they aren’t as bad as sarri makes them look these days.

Let’s say we can beat Malmo with a 2-1 lead at home Thursday to win the tie. Imagine if he changed things up and went with 3 at the back or a Kante/Jorginho pivot with a Hazard/Willian/hudson odoi or hazard/RLC/Hudson-odoi attacking 3 behind higuian. Something to show he can make changes. Even a 2-1 loss or 3-1 loss to city would be acceptable if we look better. Maybe you confuse city who aren’t expecting it, hazard does something magical and you win. 4-3-3 again against city and we get rocked and i think he’s fired the next day.

He reminds me of Chip Kelly. He was supposed to be this revolutionary of the game but instead he just ran the same 15 plays over and over and once teams figured it out, it was curtains.

It’s looking likely that he gets the sack soon. Who would you want as caretaker manager? I’ve seen Zola a lot but what about Steve Holland? He’s currently the England assistant manager. England only have 2 euro 2020 qualifiers between now and the end of the season. I’m sure he can work something out with southgate. He knows this Chelsea team as well as anyone and is probably best positioned to be able to set them up in a way to try and grind some results and squeeze 4th or a deep Europa league run out of this group.

I might have to pay the $3 to stream this game with CHO playing.

Also can’t sub kovacic for Barkley or vice versa if you start them both.

So if hazard and CHO leave and Willian and Pedro having expiring contracts we could need 3 new wingers in addition to pulisic this summer, 2-3 new strikers, 4 fullbacks (3 if you promote Reece James, 2 centerbacks and a backup goalie? Probably 1-2 midfielders as well? And we won’t be able to sign new players for a 2nd manager if we fire the guy we go with this summer?

So glad we don’t have a director of football

Most thought it would be a four window ban so this is weirdly good news. Will be interesting to see how the appeal goes RE timing and if they can knock a window off the ban.

This could end up either being a blip on the radar or a complete catastrophe. Glad there is a stable management team running things.

Very likely we appeal and it gets upheld after the summer window so the ban is Jan and June 2020.

Club already have appealed. Time table for an appeal is usually about 6-10 months so the club will have this summer for sure and possibly next January.

I would rather start it this coming January and have the ability to go into the market the following January if necessary. This summer will be key though because CHO, Willian and Pedro can all walk the following summer and we would be under a transfer ban. I think we have to sell Willian, assume hazard leaves, sign a left footed winger and tell CHO he’s the guy on the left side and pray we can keep him. We do that and at least have CHO, pulisic and new left footed guy and that’s sustainable. Winger and fullback are my 2 biggest concerns. Azpi looks poor at fullback and that will only get worse. I’m a big Reece James fan but we need 4 fullbacks and I’m not sure we have one that is currently Chelsea quality.

The game away on a Thursday is right before an away trip to Everton also. Not an ideal stretch. Even though it’s only 2 weeks away we still could very well have a different manager though so tough to tell how things will go.

Worst possible timing. Lame duck manager and hazard leaving with no ability to replace.
