Well, when the best food available in Eastern Europe is make by Turkish immigrants... There ain't gonna be much of it in the US
I got it, and unfortunately, there aren't a ton of Eastern European immigrants in Atlanta vs lots of places in the Midwest. There are 2 restaurants that immediately come to mind when I think of good Eastern European food that I've had, Russian Tea Time in Chicago, and Sokolowskis in Cleveland. In Atlanta, I'm not hoping for much, but it would be nice to have the option on Buford highway or something. Also, kind of a side note, but I remember as a child hearing the Polaris Restaurant (Spaceship on the skyline) was Russian. I can't find anything about it online though, so my memory is probably wrong.
All the food is blasted into your mouth via a double-barrel shotgun. The fear for your life makes the food taste divine.
Are you sure that's not Nikolai's Roof in the Hilton? I know the chef there and they redid the entire concept about 5 years ago. Nice but I wouldn't say it's really Russian.
I've been 3x and each one was fantastic. Menu will change each trip but I've always had a great meal there
Planning a trip in a couple weeks. I'm fairly familiar but usually come for a bachelor party or golf and not spending much time doing non-alcoholic activities. It'll be me and my girlfriend, what is worth a shit during the day? Aquarium, Ponce Market, World of Coke?
Another thing -- I may have asked this before, but has anyone had the beef wellington at Marcel? I know you have to order it 24 hours in advance, but it's supposed to be excellent. I've never actually had real beef wellington before, just the bite size appetizer things at like wedding cocktail hours. I'd never really thought I'd like beef wellington, but then I heard about Marcel, and then I watched this video, now I would really like to try it.
I've never had it at Marcel but beef Wellington is fantastic and everything at Marcel is good in my experience.
So my buddy got this from his surveillance camera yesterday morning. It’s by the Inman Park Marta station. He’s also had a bomb squad and one of a car rolling down these same stairs. Excited for the montage once he gets enough footage. http://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/u-haul-truck-goes-airborne-crashes-in-east-atlanta-neighborhood
I wanted too so bad. Figured cutting out travel costs if you ever wanted to go to a super bowl. Never had a hookup though.
Heading down to check out the festivities. Was gonna start at centennial park but anything else in the area worth seeing?
Not sure. I literally just got the tickets last night. I hadn't even thought that far ahead, but I'm looking up options now.
Went the the NFL Super Bowl Experience yesterday at 10am. Left at 4:30pm. The mass of people trying to get in as I was leaving was crazy. The whole downtown was a mess at 5pm. Can't imagine what it's like today. Best way of travel has to be by scooter.
Definitely not going to any of the official events before the game today as the tickets to the 2 I found online were $399 and $750.
Hasn’t barstool basically taken over the IvY? How do we make the IVY worse? Let’s make it the barstool headquarters
Went up to North GA and hiked Yonah Mountain. Good little Saturday and best hike I’ve done in Georgia if any of y’all are in to that.
In Chicago, not Atlanta. It's pretty good, but it's a chain, and I think Giordono's is by far the best of the Chicago pizza chains (Nancy's and Gino's being the 2 others). Worth a shot, but know that there's a ton of Gino's out there, so if chains turn you off, I'd stay away. Anyone been to Carroll Street Cafe or The Shed at Glenwood? About to head to one of those for lunch I think.
They are both great, Carroll Street is a very, very solid breakfast spot. Shed is along the same lines as Wisteria.
Deep dish is supposed to take like an hour. My pizza came in 10 minutes. They had it made, added toppings and nuked it.
