I've always taken for granted living in a city with a major international airport. It would suck to have travel multiple hours to an airport, fly to a bigger one, and then fly to another continent.
Rest on that WHEN: Varies depending on route. Generally February through April and October 2019 through January 2020, including Thanksgiving but excluding Xmas/NYE NORMAL PRICE: $850+ AIRLINE(S): American, Air Canada, British Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss, United BUY BY: We think these fares will last less than 24 hours
Easiest to find the fares with the google flights calendar then going to kayak or something with your dates
anyone have experience on iberia airlines? really might jump on MSP-Barcelona then Madrid-MSP at sub $500 next fall
I see it. More towards the back half of the month. I put in Rome and Milan. Give me your optimal dates
late october fly in to Barcelona for 3-4 days, drive/train to san sebastian for 3-4 days, drive/train to madrid for ~2 days before flying home seems like a good time
Also, how do you set it up to fly into one airport (Milan) and fly back to SLC out of Rome? Thanks for all of your help !
The 9th isn't populating on google flights but that whole week is cheap. The 25th isnt cheap, doesn't get cheap again until Monday the 28th
That's most likely not going to work. One way segments are more expensive. You'll have to just take a few hours to get back to Milan from Rome
With a Delta/Air France flight from SLC to Milan there is a 1.5 hr stopover at Paris Charles De Gaulle. Is 1.5 hrs to short of a time to deal with Customs, etc...?
5 Barcelona - 3 San Sebastian - 1 Bilbao late October into first week of Nov is now tentative itinerary, time crunch made me swap Madrid out and just fly out of Bilbao, price is same
Older planes, but they’re fine. Economy was uncomfortable but they sell upgrades a few days before the flight at extremely reasonable prices- upgraded from standard economy to first class on the way back for $400
The SF Iberia planes are all brand new they just got into service April of 2018, they were fine in Econ
I can be at PHX in less than 10 minutes. I don't think any other major city has their airport as close to the downtown area as we do.
It's about the same. Last time I was in Vegas I flew in early Friday evening so it was a shitshow and took like an hour. Forgot that one was super close.
Should I go to Bogota, or Valencia/ Granada? I've got some family in both places, but I've never really gone on an international solo trip. Gonna go in May. Spanish airfare seems cheaper.
McCarron abuts Las Vegas Blvd and is right at The Strip. It’s only 5-10 or minutes to the MGM Grand, NYNY, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, Tropicana, Hooters, Hard Rock, Silver Sevens, and Ellis Island depending on the lights. It can be a long drive (time wise) from Downtown though. Salt Lake International is a 5-10 minute drive from downtown SLC.
Arkadin & Lyrtch thanks for your help today. Your assistance is an example of TMB at its best imo. Spent a bit more for upgrades, but the upgrades were still about half of typical. Going to spend 10/10-11/9 in Italy. Toward the end I plan to fly to Porto, Portugal for 3-4 days.
Nice! Porto is great. I didn’t do much research before I went and have no idea if it’s changed in the last 7-8 years but I enjoyed Taylor the most of the wineries in the city. It’s up the hill a bit from the riverfront.
If we’re looking at Fiji, is it recommended to go to New Zealand as well? Headed to Mexico with the 4-month old in late March, and provided it isn’t a nightmare we’re contemplating a Fiji trip toward the end of the year.
Most people would tell you that’s a long flight for a child that young but I say fuck’em. I plan on traveling with my kids
Really depends on how much time you have. If you have 3 weeks I’d say yes. If 10-14 days then you could fill all of that with NZ
he’s chill, I have no concerns with it. We’re probably gonna do 14-17 days. Would you recommend NZ over Fiji?
The AirBnb we booked in Rome (very close to Vatican City since we have a tour at 7:15 one morning) was not actually available so the host offered us another place closer to city centre that is $40/night more at the same price. Gonna need to get up earlier for the walk to be on time but it’ll be nice for the rest of the trip
There's an all inclusive travel pass for the metro lines there that you might look into. There's a pretty good chance you'll want to take it to the Vatican instead of hiking there, plus it was pretty useful on some of the other days after we walked all day and wanted to get home/around easier in the evening. Edit: Roma Pass. it also includes certain museum admissions, I know one was the Colosseum and we got to skip the general admission line
