Big fan of Reid Morgan. Reminds me of Wynkoop. Also nice to see Noah Campbell pick up where he left off last season.
He does and it’s really too bad. I remember when he came in everybody said he was the next Grayson Greiner. He is not.
Rebranding with new logo! What a disaster! University of South Carolina Upstate Chancellor Brendan Kelly said Friday it’s time the school take charge of its brand. Kelly unveiled a simplified institutional mark Friday at the school’s Founder’s Day Town Hall that emphasized its Upstate origin and school color. School officials said the unveiling is just the first of several new initiatives it plans to roll out in coming weeks. The fifth-largest public university in the state, with locations in Spartanburg and Greenville, Kelly said Upstate serves 10 counties, including Anderson, Union and Pickens, among others. “But if you say USC Upstate in each of those places, it’s not necessarily something that’s rolling off the tip of everybody’s tongue,” Kelly said. “And a lot of that has to do with brand and the way we have branded ourselves over the course of the history of this institution. It’s been a complicated brand experience.” He likened the state’s public university system, and the flagship University of South Carolina, to the Coca-Cola brand. “For those of you that don’t know, we are Sprite,” Kelly said. “And we’ve been selling ourselves in a Coke can.” Kelly emphasized that USC Upstate must clearly distinguish its offerings from other schools.
Do you guys listen to 107.5 at lunch? The young host Pearson Fowler annoys me. I was just voicing some criticisms about him on Gamecock Central and he responded to me haha. At least now I've had the chance to tell him directly what I'm yelling at the radio
Hes by far the best one on there. Everyone else is old and grouchy and doesnt really know shit about anything in the current sports landscape This excludes heath
I was about to say, uh, Cline? Yeah beyond that there's virtually no competition. I hate Gunter, Tim Hill, Tommy Moody and Jay Phillips each in their own way as well. Fowler's just smug and it rubs me the wrong way. But hey, he's the one with a broadcasting job at 25 and I'm the one with a journalism degree collecting dust so what do I know.
I made the conscious decision not to pursue a career in sports media, thank you. I can actually tell you the exact date I made this decision. Spoiler: For people who give a shit about TC backstory Saturday, February 28, 2004. I was a senior journalism major and got paid to cover the Gamecocks basketball game vs UGA for a website. Chair with my name on it on press row, seated next to Rick Henry, access to the freebies in the media lounge, everything. The Gamecocks absolutely stomp UGA, but I can't cheer bc I have to be neutral. I try chatting up some of the other reporters, but they're all jaded miserable fucks. After the game, my friends are like let's go DT! and I'm like I have to write this story and get it up on the internet. So that night I decided, I just want to be a fan and not turn this into something I get paid for. And THAT'S the only reason I don't have my own show right now!
107.5 has gone so downhill. I quit listening to it. The morning show is by far the worst. But Jay Phillips is competing for that title every time he yells and argues at a caller
The only thing I love more than listening to sports radio, is complaining about it. If you guys do the national shows I have thoughts on them too. Bill Reiter, quit fucking laughing for Christ's sakes
What value do you guys glean from listening to these guys? Their voices annoy me and their analysis on subjects always seems akin to what I could think up by reading news while sitting on the toilet for 30 minutes.
I pop it on while I'm getting ready in the am, fixing lunch, or doing whatever around the house after work. What do you listen to in those situations? When they really drive me up the wall I'll go over to WUSC or Spotify
I drive a lot in shorter stints and its convenient. The day before or after a game has decent content outside of the callers after a loss. I rarely listen to the morning show and outside of game days hardly ever listen between 1 and 4. Always listen to Dan Patrick so Pearson gets the transition after that if I'm in the car
