Chill enough to not be a terror on a plane, not chill enough to smuggle drugs. I would prefer mountainous, wife wants beach.
We stayed right next to the Pantheon and it took us about 20 minutes to walk (briskly) to Vatican City. It took another ten minutes or so to walk around the wall up to the Vatican Museum entrance, which is on the north side of the complex. We didn't "do" Castel St. Angelo other than walking past it, but kinda wish we had. You could hit it on the way back, or take a charming sidestreet Via Dei Coronari back to the north end of the Piazza Navona. Wife really liked the look of the Coronari, and we ended up going back that evening to have a nice dinner at Cucina del Teatro. I'd take a good look at the Roma Pass before buying it to see if it actually helps you enough to justify the cost. Paris has one that's a no-brainer IMO, but the Rome one has enough restrictions that it really depends on what your priorities are. We ended up not getting it, and just got advance reservations for the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum/Forum.
Staying near midtown Manhattan. Haven’t picked the hotel yet. We are going to do a little tourist stuff and a lot of eating and drinking. I’d love some recs for dinner (30-50 an entree) and bars. I know about PDT and Death and Co. Was also told to check out Dead Rabbit. A good bagel shop would be good as well. Tourist wise girlfriend really wants to do Ellis Island so we are doing that. Going to be there 3 days.
Why stay in Midtown if you’re not doing much tourist stuff? Its pretty souless and theres much better neighborhoods to stay that will be better for eating and drinking.
Definitely avoid midtown and downtown then. I used to live in the east village and LES so Im biased to those areas but anywhere between 14th and Broome is solid. If your staying more on the east side I can give some recs, although some may be a little outdated.
I’ll be there Thursday and possibly Sunday unless the resale market goes up and I can flip my Sunday tickets
7 days to vietnam 14 days after getting back korea, might have planned these trips too close together
Want to go to Barcelona on my way back to Europe from Toronto this summer. Flight on TAP Air to Barcelona via Lisbon is $280 CAD. However, I learned that TAP has a free stopover program. I then looked at the TAP flights direct to Lisbon on the same day as the one above, and they’re $480 CAD. What’s the reason for the two flights to Barcelona being cheaper than the flight to Lisbon?
My non-scientific answer is there's hardly any rhyme or reason to flight prices. If you see a cheap flight, book it. That's my philosophy, anyways.
Even when the direct flight is the same flight as leg #1 of the layover option? Seems weird to have me pay less to grab a second flight to go farther.
18 days till Tanzania/Seychelles/South Africa Given the recent cold streak and rain my body is ready.
i keep thinking of planning a trip during the winter here to escape but hear mixed things on san diego
San diego is fantastic. I dont know how anyone could think otherwise, but to each their own and I wouldn't trust those people. I have family here and go through spurts when I visit semi frequently and every time I'm here I want to move here and/or immediately plan my next trip back
I like it but feel it’s a place I’d only spend an extended weekend at, but I’m also Californian and it’s so close that it loses some of its charm to me.
I could and do like more time than that as a tourist. This is a tease to me because I only really got a day and a half here after Mexico
won the lottery again for practice days again but can't go again unfortunately idk i forgot what they said and already killed my friends who kind of "meh'd" san diego so I can't ask them
i think it was more of a its a kind of boring warm weather place with good food but only worth going once, not a lot of cultural/touristy stuff happening
I wasn’t a big fan of the Gaslamp area but we stayed near North Park and really liked it over there. Would definitely go back
might get a paid trip this fall that would be in the gaslamp area, already thought we'd pop into an airbnb out by north park or even further out just to relax for a few think people just question if you're just picking a place why do San Diego over LA
