You can see the guy who launched himself into the board look back when on the ice to see what is going on...
Did this get posted extremely dirty. https://www.bardown.com/hockey-play...ng-dirty-mma-move-injuring-opponent-1.1269355
Shane Wright was given exceptional status, so he’s now eligible for the OHL draft next month. He joins the likes of McDavid, Tavares and Sean Day.
Ekblad as well. I remember John McFarland applied for it and got turned down, which was kind of surprising since he was a man amongst boys his minor midget year.
Yeah HC does a pretty good job of not going overboard with the ES. In Wright’s case, I am curious what they do if Flint picks first. I just don’t see the kid reporting there.
Related - looking back it’s crazy that the Toronto Young Nationals with Skinner and Seguin weren’t even a top 3 team in the GTHL that season.
IIRC one of the stipulations of getting exceptional player status is having to report to whoever drafts you. Not sure how they enforce it though (or if they’ve ever had to).
I can definitely see the league working behind the scenes for some type of trade. Just give him to London. They have probably been recruiting him for years.
Jesus... The pee wee tournament in Quebec doesn’t even accept teams from the gthl anymore because these fuckers did not like how teams could not compete with them so they wanted a division for themselves....fucking toronto
It’s both sad and funny that importing Russians became a huge issue in the GTHL and they had to implement a rule to stop it.
Unreal, I am kind of torn on the whole thing. It seems to work since the talent from Ontario is always top notch but I wonder if these guys would develop just fine without the absurd elite league thing. And they play a ton of games for kids their age.
Is there any way of burning the 1st year of a contract without being eligible for the expansion draft?
Not sure, but I probably wouldn't really worry about it too much if I were a Canucks fan. They don't have any defenseman signed for the 2021 season which is the requirement, and only 1 signed past next season. Plenty of time and options to sign guys in a way where they'll be fine losing whoever they don't protect. Assuming Edler and Tanev get re-signed on 3-4 year deals with their age and injury history I'd imagine they'll say "Take him if you want him" at that point with both of them. You can't protect more forwards if you protect less DMen, (Unless you protect literally no defensemen instead of 3, then you can protect one more forward) so it's hard to imagine the Canucks having more than 3 guys they really care about protecting at that spot.
I'm pretty sure he has to play 10 games to burn the 1st year of the ELC, but it would make him eligible for the expansion draft.
Just don't want a Theodore situation to happen. Tanev is gone imo and Edler will push hard for a NMC in any effort to resign him. So if he resigns I think the Canucks protect Edler, Hughes (if he plays 10 games), and Hutton or Stecher. Who knows if they'll try to sign EK65 or Myers this summer which would change who they protect on D. Maybe they'll take Eriksson.
Starting to see the shift of anger towards GMJB by fans and Vancouver media. He maybe has 1-2 years left unless he gets some help on how to expedite the rebuild. His trades and UFA signings have been poor, now the development of young players has come into question in Utica and management appears to be oblivious to that.
He's going to be eligible for the Expansion Draft if he burns the first year of his ELC this year by playing in more than 10 games. He will be exempt from the expansion draft as a 2nd year pro if he doesn't burn the 1st year of his ELC. Seattle is going to be using Vegas rules for the expansion draft.
Right. You said if he played his ELC will slide but is expansion draft status won’t if he plays less then 10 games. It all slides.
Love the Panthers. They definitely get screwed by the league. Glad they have overcome the refs tonight.
