My theory: Jon dies some sort of heroic death this season. Daenerys ends up on the throne with she and Jon's child, Drogon flying around doing his thing, and Ghost flanking her and the baby. The final shot will focus on Ghost. He blinks and his eyes go from red to that dark brown Jon color. Series over.
He is one in the books (all the Starks are). That’s why he has Ghost. Beric always says he feels lesser every time he’s brought but when Jon dies, he presumably will live in Ghost which will preserve him. That’s why his name is Ghost.
I think it depends on how they do Bran and the NK. was the NK a nobody or was he a Stark? if he was a Stark then yea, plot twist city because you know Bran's going to do some time travel weirdness.
Yeah, I wasn't thinking about the Bran/NK angle. But even that would be surprising to me at this point simply based on how much time is left. There's 2 episodes to set up the battle at Winterfell that's probably going to focus on tying up loose ends of a lot of character arcs , the actual battle episode, and then 3 more episodes to wrap up the series. I'm sure I'll be proven wrong though and Bran will discover some link between Starks/Walkers and use that to finally end the war of northern aggression.
yes im trying not to get pissed off about this but its an issue for sure. They promised it would be "way past 60 minutes" and this is why they were cutting the episodes down to "only 6". But this does not seem to be the case and its some fuckery
Was always fools gold, we heard that last season too right? My guess is we get a couple maybe three episodes that creep close to 1 hr 20.
In the books for sure. He’s Brandon Stark. 13th Lord Commander of the Nights watch. He deserted along with the 12 other commanders of all the other castles along the wall.
I was under the impression that the Night’s King and the Night King were two different people. Is that incorrect?
The Night's King (books) and the Night King (show) are two different characters. The Night King was created before the Wall was erected (at the end of the Long Night) and thus the need for the Night's Watch existed. The Night's King was a Lord Commander of the NW that fell in love with an Other and gave her his soul so that they could rule together. The Night's King was a Stark, yes, but nobody knows anything about the Night King besides the fact that he was human and that the CotF created him during their war against the First Men only to lose control of their creation later and then have to fight together with the First Men to end the Long Night and then erect the Wall.
Only Old Nan suggests he was a Stark and he was defeated by Brandon the Breaker who was a Stark so its unlikely his name was Brandon unless their parents just decided to name multiple kids the same name
Doing a rewatch of the whole series and it’s depressing how bad the writing gets once the books stop. Really hope they don’t fuck this season up but my expectations are already low. 6 episodes is gonna be rushed no matter what.
Yeah it’s not great. Once the series is over I’d like to hear their rationale on a bunch of topics and almost all of them are post-books material (Lady Stoneheart, fAegon, Jon teleporting in season 7, etc). The dialogue was so much worse as well
I’ll always love the show because it was my introduction to the series; however, there have been a lot of gaffs. Cersei has turned into a cartoon villain. I had this same complaint about Ramsay but I digress. Butchered Jamie’s storyline. Same goes for Sansa. I’m pretty sure I saw an interview where D&D said they made those changes because they like Sophie and found her Vale storyline boring and wanted to give her more material. Littlefinger went from one of the best players of the game to being aimless and more or less a plot device for the Stark sisters. Tyrion and Dany is such a wasted relationship in the show. Part of this is because they have completely whitewashed Tyrion. Also, they have made Tyrion’s worth entirely dependent on the quality of advice he gives Dany. It doesn’t do any favors to either of them.
The Night's King's name was intentionally wiped from the history books or scrolls or whatever because of the atrocities he committed. What's really interesting (to me) is that in the books, the Night's King is defeated by an alliance of Brandon the Breaker and Joramun (the King-Beyond-the-Wall). You might remember from the books that Joramun had a magical horn that he was going to bring down the Wall with, which Mance Rayder would later claim to have found. I think, what with all the repeated themes in the books and the show, it seems like a no-brainer that Jon Snow and Dany are going north to find some artifact to defeat the Night King. The Horn of Joramun? The altar? A magic sword?
I'm here for all the complaints about the shows writing but cutting out lady stone heart and faegon were good choices. Those were stupid plots in the book.
I mean, the answer you'll get for everything is literally: not enough time, not enough money. Jon and Gendry could have taken appropriate time to run all over the place for 4 episodes and you know what we'd get in the interim? 4 episodes of writing that you guys already claim to hate so why in the fuck would you want more of it? I mean honestly, if you don't like the writing you should be thrilled the show is doing fewer episodes and ending this season.
Beef I have is when they take great character development, say they don't have time for it, then add non book BS material. That fucking beetle squishing talk between Tyrion and Jamie took more time than tysha would have. #whereverwhoresgo
