Wife and I are strongly considering getting a Peloton to add to the home gym. We both have shitty knees, so running is a no-go. I assume you guys posting in here all the time consider it worth the price tag. Sell me on it.
It’s expensive Hasn’t bothered my knees yet Hasn’t bothered my back yet It’s fun It’s hard Make sure and get a referral code from whoever’s turn it is
I think you are actually pretty close to being next. There were a few after I got mine that got theirs but not many.
I've never had a referral turn here!! But I've also never ordered my 100th ride shirt or redeemed the referrals I got from people at work. So, go ahead and skip me.
Does anyone have a go-to pre and/or post-ride stretch video they go to? Preferably a five minute one. I’m guessing they’re all the same but maybe not.
Pre not so much for cycling but for running I like a five min pre by Selena Samula (sp) for cycling there was a 5 min warmup ride by Christine I liked. Post I just switch around they are pretty much the same stretches. I book mark the ones I like. I usually do a cool down ride and stretch helps my recovery.
Day 20 of 30: Complete - one of my favorite 45 minute rides with Jess King (90s playlist and she’s wearing a super revealing sports bra and her tits look fantastic). Lost at least 10 points in output because of goddamn buffering. Still hit a PR with 675. I credit the tits for it.
i've gotten better at maintaining my cadence when seated. are y'all able to maintain a steady cadence when out of the saddle? mine has a +/- 10 variance depending on which leg is stepping down, it seems.
also, i did my first Outdoor peloton workout today and it was pretty cool. I walked probably 5-10 min faster than normal with my dog on our usual walk just because I had a tempo and someone telling me to pick up the pace at certain intervals.
I wish you could connect a distance app to the outdoor workouts and just download them to my watch like you can with Nike app runs
Day 20 of 30 - 30 minute 90s country ride with Hannah and wow that was terrible. Felt like I was in a silver sneakers class
It was really bad. I just chose the first 30 minute class I saw on the screen and thought, what have I done after I hit start
I've got to be due for a referral code. Joined in last February and haven't passed it out yet. Daddy needs some shorts.
Playlist is everything for me. I preview the shit out of the rides. If I can't get into the music, I know I'm going to have a terrible ride.
We bought a used star trac vbike from a local gym and added the wahoo cadence and hr arm band. All in on that stuff and some randoms we spent maybe $350 or so. I'm sure it's not as great as the $2k bike but on a budget the peloton app is really, really great so far. We're still getting a feel for the instructors, and music does seem to make all the difference.
Day 21 of 30: Complete - 30 minute metric ride because my legs were drained from yesterday’s PR, and I really wanted to watch the Rays game.
30 min Women's ride with Robin. 235kj, PR. Mad at myself because I should have hit 250. I still feel "tired" for the first five minutes of every ride.
day 3 today. So far I’ve taken Cody once and Leanne twice. Just on beginner classes for now. Did the advanced beginner today and had a good time. I have never been so motivated to work out it’s nuts. Had a baseball game at 8am had breakfast then hopped on the bike. All showered and it’s only 1. Might hop on later or try a yoga class.
I've been riding over a year and still experience the same tired/soreness feeling during the first 5+ min of a ride if I'm riding a heavy schedule. Seems like it's pretty natural if you're pushing yourself. If you want to see consistently measured growth, stay with warming up in the main class so you're using the same approach ride-to-ride. If you want to take a run at a PR, do a 5 min warmup before riding. I've thought that would work, but I don't ever try it other than the one FTP test I took. I skied my ass off today in powder/crud, and don't want to think about how sore I'll be tomorrow or Tues when I ride again.
Day 21 of 30 - 45 minute yoga class because my neck and back after laying 6 yards of mulch and planting 15 bushes at a friends house. Plus my legs are dead.
Day 19: 37 mile outdoor ride 30 min yoga Day 20: two 20 min rides with AT cool down ride and stretch with JJ Day 21: 20 min walk. 20 min yoga
Do you do the walks with the outdoor feature? If so, is there a way to download them so you aren’t streaming?
I am the same way with the playlist. The only exception is Trap Music rides with Jess. I didn't even know what trap music was before I did her ride. Those rides are really easy to get lost in, they go by quick for me. I would highly suggest trying one.
Day 22 of 30: Complete - 30 minute metrics ride. I fucked my back up playing with Mini Boom tonight, and I’m in agony. Had to gut through those 30 minutes. Hoping to be better tomorrow so I can take a regular class again.
Alex and JJ are my go to instructors. Motivating, good music, harder rides usually. Really like both.
It’s a mix of hip hop and edm I think. Lots of high tempo beats that I find easy to push hard on. Let me know what you think.
Depends on my mood, hip hop or R&B is basically 95% Alex with Robin mixed in occasionally. JJ is my 80s go to. Others can pop out a nice 80s playlist once in a while, but she hits the mark every time. Doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes, but 80s rock rides motivate me like no other.
Fuck I just did a 20 min pop ride and was not expecting that. I guess I’m new to the bike classes/out of shape.
Gotta start somewhere. I definitely remember my first week on the bike, it was an eye opener. Just aim for steady, small improvements. Biggest mistake is trying to match someone who's been at it longer.
JJ has a couple good hour long climb rides with good playlists. One ride has an asshat in it that keeps going WOOOOOOO! in it at several parts. The ride is my go to hour ride, but that asshole triggers me every time.
did my first ride with Ally Love last night and she's great also read the nyt piece on her from last week and she's great irl
Motherfucking buffering just cut the class with 30 seconds left and cost me a PR. God fucking damnit. Day 24 of 30: Complete - 44:30 with Jess King. FUCK YOU, PELOTON. FIX YOUR FUCKING SERVERS.
