I understand your guys loyalty with wanting your favorite college teams kicker but the NFL is littered with great NCAA kickers that bombed out in the pros. Give me a proven NFL pro bowl kicker over some NCAA kid with potential.
I really don't see Yoon as an NFL kicker. He hardly even ever attempted kicks from 50+. And he had to be put on a pitch count due to durability concerns.
Thats awesome... Big fan of the entire Long family One less position that needs to be addressed this off season
Been a few years since I logged in here. Not surprised to see the search function is still useless. Someone kindly point me toward the bros that live in Chicago and post about it thread?
So based off twitter news/reports it seems like the Bears are willing to bring Amos back but they seem to be willing to offer less than he expects to be paid. Nothing surprising there. My guess is he ends up someone else (hopefully on a huge deal) and we get a draft pick comp. I think we then draft a S and sign some vet to fill the role. I could see Bush get a crack as well.
Amos has a lot of FA competition at the safety position, we might luck out and get him on a decent deal.
That would be excellent. He seems to be at the top of the safety board for lots of teams so I'm not sure he will be the one to get the short end of the money being spent. But it could be really helpful with a vet who fall to us for a year at the end of the market. The safety class is pretty strong this year both in free agency and in the draft. I think there should be a decent player or two available in the third round when we select. If the Jordan Howard rumors are true and we somehow snag a 2 this year for him I feel even better about getting a safety in that round. I love Juan Thornhill he would be may dream selection
RB draft class is pure shit... Could elevate his value. Plus the FA market rumors had some average RBs asking for 7m per. Him being on a rookie deal is enticing I do agree a 3rd would be fine... holding out hope for a 2. Honestly just need to ship his ass off. Not really a fit in this offense and I saw a stat that when he was in the game the bears where 55+% run and that was the highest % of any RB/Team in the league. Makes us pretty predictable something Nagy doesn't like to be.
He's ranked pretty high based on production/age... You will get him for some prime years and not encounter the downside so that's a big plus. I don't think we upgrade this season over him unless we somehow move up in the draft. The bears don't have the money to land a FA upgrade
I’d have no idea how this is even feasible with our cap space. I’m sure it would invoke letting Amos and Callahan walk (may happen anyway) and maybe cutting trevathan and some others...no thanks.
Pace probably called Bell's agent and asked what the market looks like and if he is willing to sign for under value the Bears would be interested. Agent leaks it as if Bears are in hot pursuit. It would a stupid move to allow a pretty good CB and a very good S walk along with cutting your starting ILB to sign a player thats not a need and hasn't played football in well over a year.
Bears also signed Brauneker to a 2 year deal today, wonder if that doesn’t bode well for Pace and Nagy’s confidence in Shaheen being the #2 TE.
Skrine for 3 yrs at $16.5 mill. Add that onto Davis and Braunekcer and I bet Amos is gone too. We’ll use the remaining cap to sign a back up edge rusher and draft a safety in the 3rd.
He’s on a rookie deal so not much, I bet with the 3 deals we signed today we’re down under 9 mill left. We’ve got to fill backup edge rusher, WR, safety, some back up OL. I bet our FA spending is just about done. Just a guess. Edit: And I’m ok with it as long as Skrine is an upgrade over Callahan and we draft a good safety in the 3rd. I did not want to see us cutting other starters to fit Bell in.
I’m not a fan of Mike Davis but at least this is the official end of Mizzell and Cunningham and for that I’m greatful.
Guy on the radio here said they were still talking to Amos after the honey badger signing. As long as it’s not Green Bay.
Briggs just said Amos has a deal and it’s not with the Bears... God I hope it’s not a team in our division
I’m a fan of Skrine signing. At worst he’s a wash to Callahan but statistically in coverage he had better numbers. He’s also going to cost a whole lot less. Safety market is shrinking. At this point feels like it’s going to be the draft for us to fill that role. Some talk of Gostkowski being courted by the Bears.
